Marakand Minerals ('Marakand' or 'the Company') wishes to advise shareholders
that the Company's base metals project in south east Uzbekistan, Khandiza, is
not affected by the current civil unrest in Andijan. Andijan is located in the
Eastern part of the Uzbekistan, very close to the border with Kyrgystan.
Marakand's office in Tashkent remains open. Marakand will keep shareholders
appraised on any further developments.
