                   Marakand Minerals Limited ("the Company")

                            Director's Shareholding

Application has been made for 4,186 new ordinary shares of 1p each in the
Company to be admitted to trading on the AIM market of London Stock Exchange
plc. These shares were issued to Richard Robinson, a non-executive director of
the Company, at a price of 49.04p, being the average mid-market price for the
period 1 January to 31 March 2004, on 19 April 2004 as consideration for fees
for the same period. Mr. Robinson's total holding in the Company is now 4,186
ordinary shares.

The new shares will rank pari passu with existing ordinary shares and dealings
are expected to commence in the new ordinary shares at 8.00am on 27 April 2004.

Following the allotment of the above new ordinary shares, the Company's issued
share capital is 101,004,186 ordinary shares of 1p each.
