Longships Takeover Rumours (LONG)

I see more rumours swirling around ITV, this time a possible merger deal for it's Studios division by Redbird IMI. ITV is at the top of my list on next up to buy along with SUPR which is first and ITV second but i have to wait for the funds to become avaliable either through a takeover or spare dividend income.

Bloody hell just posted on the wrong forum.. Ex holding XLM been offered a takeover offer, at a fraction of what it used to be 24p. I sold them for £1.20 many moons ago. I think I purchased them for 64p..

Well done CFRO, you were due a takeover. I bet that fund that gave its ANP shares away for £2.25 must all be pointing fingers at each other now...

Takeover offer for GRIO, 48.5 premium to share price. Another investment trust, being picked off. Another trust thats at a big discount to the NAV. surely only a matter of time before loads of others get picked off, as they are all heavily discounted to their NAVs

VANL would be a great takeover target for my long-term holding RNWH. (13 years and counting). It would offer a gateway into Canada for all it subsidiary groups...

I'm about 5% up overall. I was about 11% up at the beginning of October. So a poor Q4 for me.. This year I completed my MNG holding and added Tsco and CNC to the portfolio. And lost CTO with a takeover. So currently hold 30 positions. Medium-term plan.... Next year and beyond...I'm hoping for some consolidation in the reit and investment trust space which I hold 9 positions. SUPR, THRL, Bbox, WHR, Shed, Seit, Grid, Trig, UKW. I could do with losing afew of those positions, and get some more diversity into the portfolio. All of these are priced miles behind there Nav, A upcoming catalyst.... ( In February, next year..) HEIT battery investment trust have had a load of bidders for there battery storage assets. It will be interesting to see if they get taken over above or around NAV price. If they do, it could wake up the stale reit/ Investment Trust market...

Here we are nearly at the end of the year and it's looking like no takeovers for me this year. Very disapointed with that. It's not often i go a whole year without at least one, so much for the year of the takeover comment that i was predicting this time last year.. There were still plenty of takeover this year however just not any of mine but as we go into 2025 i don't suppose much will change on the M&A front and there could still be loads of bids. So many of my holdings could be bid for at absolutely any time so never really know. So maybe 2025 then will be the "year of the takeover"...

SUPR keeps going down, no idea why. Secondary listing on the JSE not helped. Mind you, saying that i see most REIT's have fallen heavily in recent weeks so SUPR not alone.. Dying to buy SUPR but need a takeover to do so, just hoping i get one soon..

It was all very tight-lipped but in the end it's all been rejected. It was a good deal for both companies and both sets of shareholders but sadly not to be. Loungers have got bid. Are we starting to see a bit of takeover action pick back up again in time for Xmas..

Market not happy with VLX possible takeover of TT. Personally I think its a good deal. But the nervous investors are scared of ambitious companies at the moment... UK investors are just a bag of nerves at the moment, any type of change, they crap themselves...

I do like Richard Staverley eagle eye, but not sure about some of these other fund managers even they have their own biased opinions... ANP jumped up this afternoon on high volume. I am always suspicious of Friday afternoon moves (both up or down!). Takeover Monday morning? You never know.. Edit - Looks like an ST tip plus could be vox markets mention yesterday too that created the buying interest but volume was still quite high at 600k shares traded hence may be more to it perhaps than just the two tips.. I hear that Mr G has left stocko. Funny that! I suspect he was quietly asked to leave. Now gone onto substack. Don't they all! Paid for subscription. Two things: firstly it wont work, he wont get enough sign-up for it or they will slowly leave when his tips dont work out (which they wont!). Secondly, you have to be, by law, FCA registered....

TATE interim report out but still no news or any sign whatsoever of any takeover.

Unless I get a takeover, I won't be investing anything until May next year. My Mrs 50 birthday coming up in the next 18 months as well as holidays to pay for, so need to build some spare funds....

Takeover are starting to pick up again. ECK another with a bid offer.

VANL CAD$55m contract wins in Canada for rail upgrade. Still awaiting news on TATE. The FT seem pretty confident that a takeover is in the offing. I would personally rather it doesn't happen. I think VANL could be bought by RNWH. STVG could be bought by ITV. TON might be bought by ALU. All of those kinds of takeovers i would welcome but TATE is apparently a US PE company. It will be on the cheap and that would be another world-leading British company gone to the States which is tragic..

Got my lovely MNG dividend today. Little bit of an exciting day for me as i am now able to buy a brand new holding and something i have been planning for a good while. The new share is VP, a company top of wish-list for months. Good entry here i feel on a single digit pe, dividend yield over 6%, should be a beneficiary of Labours construction drive and possible takeover candidate. Well managed with a major family shareholding. With all my dividends collected over the last few days i used them to make top-ups in two of my more tinier holdings STVG and VANL..

Still waiting for my takeover.. I did say back last Xmas that this year we would see high numbers of takeovers and that has been the case up until now where deals have slowed over the summer. I still live in hope that i will see at least one by this Xmas, who knows i could easily still get three or even four come in and that could happen all at once you just never know..
