When we look at our trophy cabinet, I don't think the fans or board get too fussed about £1.5b, we can afford it, BUT we would be worried if after spending a lot of money we had never won the PL since it's inception in 1992 ........that is something we don't need to concern ourselves with.

As mentioned above the fee matters not. Sometimes you need to overpay to get what you want - and who knows? By next summer the fee may look cheap anyway! Pool need more than a decent defender. They need an organiser - a leader and good communicator on the pitch. If VVD can do this he is worth the money. As carra said it's only 2x Lindelof. I'd be more worried about united spending £1.5 billion over the past few seasons yet still playing the type of football that would bring a smile to the faces of Sam Allardyce/Tony Pulis. Shocking! No wonder the natives are getting restless. But for Degea United would be in 6h place.

Well it's all monopoly money but at the end of the day we've made a massive improvement to our defence and if he helps us qualify for the CL again then he's paid half his fee back. Not many decent CB's on the markets these days and he's a cracking footballer and ready made captain for our team which is something we have been sadly lacking. Coutinho, Milner and Henderlol aren't Liverpool captains by any stretch.

Top goalie in the summer and we'll be reet.

That was 15 years ago. Do the math and work out what that would be today, inflation, tv money etc etc. Makes VVD look cheap.

Get back to making a Mourinho OUT banner LMAO

Even the Chavs are laughing at Utd now :))

lol come on zincs, hope your wife does the accounts in your house

Rio Ferdinand has been unveiled as Britain's most expensive player by Manchester United following his £30million transfer from Leeds United.

The final details of Ferdinand's move were finalised around lunchtime, with the 23-year-old defender agreeing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
The former champions have agreed to pay the fee in two installments, the first £15 million being paid immediately and the second payment in twelve months time.

A further £4 million could be paid, increasing the overall fee to £33.3 million, depending on appearances and Manchester United's success over the next five years.

I wasnt talking about Rooney. Wonky lips is Rio who you paid £30M for in 2002. That would equate to (in todays markets) well over £100M. Probably more like £150M so £70M for VVD aint nothing. Especially when we are going to take a 15 bagger on Coutinho.

Anyway less of the moaning, you are turning into your manager LOL!

Get your money on us to win the CL with the Ox scoring the winner.

Paying over £80M for the French Carlton Palmer gives you no right to discuss transfer fees of other clubs lol and I suppose Salah wasn't worth £35M either :-))

You paid £30M over 15 years ago for Wonky lips so by comparison he's a bargain.

Forget the price, we have a world class defender and with Keita on his way in the summer we are building some team. Great time to be a red :)
