29/3/2000 06:59 | Looks as if these are beginning to bounce back off their recent lows. They steadily drifted lower - from the mid 20's - on no news and their failure to convert discussions with Regalian into an acquisition. The three members of the 'dream team' - Luke Johnson, Jim Mellon and Gary Ashworth have been looking for something juicy to inject into LNT - and my sources tell me that this is not far off. With the price movement yesterday and this morning we may be close to an announcement. It's worth remembering that they zoomed from about 11p to around 40p when the three first announced that they were taking control - to change direction through an acquisition strategy. Gary Ashworth was formerly CEO/Chair of Abacus Recruitment where he lifted the share price from about 16p to sell off at around 280p within 3 years. He was the darling of the AIM market in 1997/8. Jim Mellon gained his spurs with the Hong Kong Vulture Fund - specialising in turn around situations - squeezing value out of undervalued stock. The third member of the team is Luke Johnson - well, he doesn't really need any introductions - and will, presumably be smarting from the apparent under performance of LNT's stock price. No advice intended etc. | mg | |
