The BOD are not the best at giving us PIs updates, which would be useful.

Gap between LSI and LSIC opened up again over the past 2 months!
Closed a little today though with LSIC up 6% and a bit more volume.
Amazing really - inefficient market!

Yes crackers! you would think they were different businesses looking at the price differential .....again!

A lovely quiet board here as LSI/LSIC moves from development to commercial sales mode with a giant pot of tax losses to utilise as a nice bonus. Kidney transporter growing territories, liver transporter progressing towards approval and launch. I guess investors will catch up with the story when the numbers become more obvious in a couple of years. A very, very long term hold for me.

From last year's accounts
"Our Future
The future for Lifeline Scientific and our LifePort brand is strong, and we remain optimistic about continued growth. As global demand for organ transplants continues to increase, market and technological drivers create compelling requirements for scientifically proven solutions to improve donor organ availability and transplantation outcomes.

Whether through new product development, geographic expansion or strategic acquisitions, we are committed to achieving sustainable profitable growth, while supporting the global transplant community in their efforts to save the lives of patients suffering from end-stage organ disease.

We are moving into an exciting stage of the Company's growth that expects to see reduced R&D spend with an increased focus on commercial sales and marketing. Investments we have undertaken to further strengthen our market leadership will continue to afford us significant opportunity to build profits and value for our investors in the short, medium and longer-term.

Nice annual statement. I note that R|&D expected to be much reduced and potential acquisitions are on the card. Interesting, if only the market was not so thin

AM - See my posts above - and the comparative charts

They will come back in line eventually. The differential is an opportunity!

Update - my broker tells me that LSIC is settled through CREST, LSI is not, which may be why different brokers offer different stock.

I've dipped into this share before and know how horribly illiquid it is.

My broker only offers LSIC - the Reg S lifted shares.

But I am confused by the huge price differential between LSI and LSIC. they are the same shares to all intents and purposes except that LSI cannot be owned by US citizens.

But... LSI is much more heavily traded than LSIC (relatively). Which means that is the European (read: UK) market that is trading these LSI primarily. Now - this is what I would have expected.

So - I assume that there are only a few brokers that allows LSIC shares to be bought.

BUT... These are the same shares in the same company, worth the same vote, same portion of the Shareholders Funds etc etc

But - it still brings us to the fact that there is a big differential.

So a question for you all:

Are LSI overpriced or LSIC underpriced? ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD PLEASE

Given the impending drop in profits for 2012, I feel that LSI may drop. Discuss.

I have a good feeling about this. I was earlier expecting a loss following international expansion and R&D last year but their trading statement was upbeat with revenue up, profits and a positive outlook. With full expensing of R&D the P&L could really see a bounce in profitability this and particularly next year with the expansion of revenues geographically offsetting the R&D and these new market set up costs. Further this business could be a nice add on business for an acquirer who already has their own sales staff network in place. I have always been keen on the reoccurring nature of the ongoing materials sales that follow each product sale.Looking forward to full year figs and updated outlook

Well let's hope that the new adviser keeps us a bit better informed with what's going on than the last lot. Great product, but hardly ever any progress reports.

A little tick up on LSI on decent volume. LSIC quoted offer up a little bid unchanged
I have no idea what you can actually trade at.
I have to say it is all rather confusing - is there something that we don't (yet) know!
Not complaining though and we are just getting to where we should be a little earlier than I expected. A very long term 2-3 year hold for me. Then take out or cash cow with decent yield imo.

LSI 220/235
LSIC 185/200
Same stock different price

I think somebody has realised that there is an arbitrage opportunity here. ie an opportunity to sell LSI and buy LSIC making an instant 10% profit even at quoted spreads!!!! crazy inefficient market still!
LSIC up 4% LSI unchanged but still a big differential

LSI 215/230
LSIC 185/195
Same stock different price

LSIC/LSI gap closed a bit but LSIC struggling to catch LSI. Both moved up on little apparent volume but then again it doesn't take much.

So LSI - Offer 230
LSIC - Offer 180

Spot the difference!!!!!

One curiosity about the trading statement. LSI flagged throughout the year that earnings would be reduced significantly by investment in developing the liver product and expanding into new geographies.

The consensus earnings forecast for calendar 2012 sat for most of the year at $0.02; but, according to Stockopaedia, it's been increased recently for 2012 to $0.21 (around 13.4p).

The forecast may be way off beam; but "forecasts" made after the period in question has expired are often made on an informed basis.

We will have to wait until April.

I doubt anyone will be interested

But we have a TS today.

Revenue +20% but profit impacted by development costs. Unlike most small caps they are not capitalising development costs which reduces profit in the development / growth stage but will not be a burden in later years.

Strong growth outside of core US business.

RNS with Legal & General increasing holding to 4.66%, which perhaps explains the rise. The question I have is how come the share price rose yesterdya before the RNS was announced?

From Rio de Janeiro - Jan 2013

translation
"The state also invested in acquiring five renal perfusion apparatus LifePort Kidney called Transporter that improves the condition of some specific kidneys, which previously could not be used for transplantation. Over 30 kidneys have already had their conditions improved. This investment is especially important because kidney is the organ transplant with higher demand in Brazil and worldwide. Rio de Janeiro and Ceara are pioneers in the country to acquire this machine. The amount invested in equipment was $ 1 million.
