I looked at previous interims and they don't normally have webcasts and analyst meetings so should have a good story to tell imo philanderer - that 4% yield should impress too imo.

Early deliveries working, says Menzies Distribution

31 Jul, 2012

Newspapers and magazines arrive on time during the first few days of the Olympics

A decision to deliver newspapers and magazines to retailers 90 minutes earlier than usual during the Olympics in London has allowed Menzies Distribution to record a 100% success rate in London during the first few days of the Olympics.

The arrangement, which followed negotiations with publishers who agreed to work to earlier deadlines, means independent shops and chain retail stores on the Olympic Route Network and nearby Games venues have had usual stock levels ready to be sold in store despite speculation about disruption.

Grant Keogh, Menzies Distribution Centre Manager at the South East London Branch in Greenwich, said: "We run a time critical delivery service so we can't afford delays, regardless of circumstance.

"Obviously there was a lot of speculation before the Olympics began about the traffic disruption and problems with deliveries and we put in as much preparation as we could to ensure we were not adversely affected. I'm pleased to say that so far it looks like that preparation has paid off.

I've gone through all the trades May 1st and May second, there were 3 rogue small trades where it traded at 640p at around 10.12am but the rest of that period all the trades were @ 630p. There's none ever that I can see @ 650p.

632-633p was the height of the day's trading then imo.

Huge reverse head and shoulders too - bodes well for a big spike up soon imo.

ADVFN's chart above is wrong - the highest previous trades was at 332p in April - today's price is a new high and breakout imo:

"John Menzies plc will be reporting its Interim Results for the six months ended 30 June 2012 on Tuesday 14 August 2012. Management will be hosting a conference call and webcast for analysts and investors at 8.30am on 14 August 2012, the details of which will be distributed by FTI Consulting nearer the event. "

Menzies Halts Cargo Operations At EMA

SOURCE: DERBY EVENING TELEGRAPH

JULY 20, 2012

A carg business has announced it is to cease operations at East Midlands Airport at the end of next month.

Menzies Aviation, the aviation services arm of John Menzies Plc, will halt operations at the Castle Donington airport in an effort to boost profitability.

The Edinburgh-based firm will also end its cargo operations at Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester airports.

The company will instead focus its UK cargo business on London Heathrow, as well as smaller operations in Aberdeen and Belfast.

A handful of job losses are expected, although these workers may transfer to rival companies that take on the East Midlands Airport contract.

'Menzies scales back regional operations'

FT:

....Commenting on the move Mike Murphy, an analyst at Numis, said: "[Menzies are] only getting rid of a few lossmaking sheds that they had. Menzies had persevered and done as much as they can, but decided that the best way forward was to concentrate on the profitable sheds in the UK, such as Heathrow."
