Itv Takeover Rumours (ITV)

Crazy that we’re now ‘hoping’ for a takeover at a price 20% less than it was only 3 years ago. The Dame has done well lol. She needs to go.

TT electronics the latest FTSE stock to receive a takeover offer. Most are now at a 50%+ premium.

Thanks Huckers. There’s lots of stuff online about media mergers coming in the US but not to forget plenty of potential M&A in Europe too. RTL and ITV have quite a lot of history and info sharing - and news that RTL are ‘seeking options’ around their production arm Fremantle (including considering mergers) got me thinking : how about Fremantle and ITV Studios merging - with both RTL and ITV retaining a 50% stake? They would both benefit from the cost savings plus use of content in their own markets. And this is a new idea - going beyond all the boring takeover chatter which might not ever happen. Owning 50% of a much bigger production arm could be just the thing ITV needs to get a re-rating. Https://fremantle.co.uk/

Starmer has been in the US touting Labour's pro-business credentials. Standing in the way of a takeover by a US company would not be consistent with that!

BTW, I was at Logica for many years and as you all know we were the subject of a failed bid and a successful one by CGI. We the people who worked there hadn't a clue that any bid was about to happen until the day it happened. My point is, we in management knew nothing, but it was fairly obvious after the event people within the institutions were very well informed. On the eve of the bid announcement Logica top brass was advised of the takeover by Rothschild, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank, while CGI employed Goldman Sachs.

You've more chance of a win with a lottery ticket, than a goldfinger rumour being right ;-) tlobs...I don't know what Goldfinger knows regarding ITV, but you are wrong about his info being imagination. Goldfinger has often posted info and forecasts that later became true. IMO he has contacts in the know, a couple of years back and longer he posted that a Cobham Plc bid was going to happen, well it did happen even as Alan Cobham's widow a major shareholder was reported as saying there was never going to be a takeover. Goldfinger also reported that IMG were being targetted as it's share price fell when Apple stated they were to stop buying semi conductors from them. Both Cobham and IMG were taken over within a year as he forecast. I would never write off his posts as being nonsense, he has been correct on at least two occassions I know of. I believe ITV are a target and his source is solid!

DH - this is interesting - there seem to be a lot of potential parties - I’m sure I’ve read about one or two others in the past (Banijay, StudioCanal) but most of the main ones are here. With so many - it wouldn’t be just wishful thinking to hope for a ‘bidding war’ or at least more than one offer - which does frequently happen when a takeover offer is made and somebody wants to block someone else getting competitive advantage. But it will take that vital first offer to force the hand of another. Some posters have suggested a 50% bid premium is common - which puts ITV up to approx 120p today - so this could even be taken out in the 130s or 140s? It might never happen I know that. But nice to think about. Definite potential!

By the way for certain negative posters - the above is not ramping. Ramping would be if I said: "Hey everyone Tesco is about to takeover ITV!" The above suggestions are all based on information and articles already in the public domain.

goldfinger please tell us if your American contact can confirm if it's true that the Dame and other board members have received approaches for a takeover but not disclosed them.

It is a solid set of results. With the dividend yield and takeover prospects, the share is worth over 90p

When are ITV going to put out an RNS relating to why the share buy back has been paused? If it's to simplify negotiations relating to a possible takeover that's fair enough, but I think its only fair that shareholders are informed. My pension pot has a significant number of shares that I'd like to move on at a decent price before the Labour party start to shaft us all.

Fingers crossed for a sustained period of buying over the next week that will hopefully take us through the 90p barrier, or takeover news that will eventually take us over 150p by the end of the year ;-)

Catalysts for another leg up... BOE bank cut (1st August). A good Interim Results (25th July), reporting advertising revenue build ahead of expectations. A takeover bid for you Goldfingerists (supposedly a Friday in June)!
