20/10/2005 08:42 | Morning Meenan. Here's my brief summary. First and foremost, no nasty surprises. LFL sales decrease of 2.6% not bad considering impact of new distribution centre. Current LFL sales flat, again, not bad considering last years strong comparative and current retail climate. Gross margins improved. Rollout of ...instore going to plan. I'm satisfied with these results, mundane they might be, but shocking they're not. I can't see Investors piling in just yet though. The all important xmas period will determine that. The initial response from the market appears to be somewhat lukewarm, shareprice currently up half penny. | wunderbar
20/10/2005 07:44 | Ok, any views on the interims? | meenan
19/10/2005 15:26 | Neil & Monkey, Interims are tomorrow, maybe this will provide a clue as to why the price has fallen so sharply over the past month. I certainly can't explain it. I mean, three months ago INST anounced a 3% recovery in sales which prompted a rise to 60p. Now, without reason the shareprice has suddenly slumped to 44.5p, not too far off its record low. You have to ask yourself, what's happened in the last three months to justify wiping a third off the value of the company? Over to you Angus. | wunderbar
19/10/2005 11:56 | Ask Angus. | neilrr
19/10/2005 09:50 | Shareprice at all time low. Why does it keep falling? | monkey66
14/10/2005 09:58 | Need some good news on this sharpish. | neilrr
28/9/2005 09:12 | Would the last one out please turn off the lights! | meenan
27/9/2005 11:23 | Possibly a tree shake to scare small PIs into bailing out in order to fill a big order? I hope so. Another possibility is dismal trading info leaked, though the small volumes don't support this theory. Maybe just general malaise in retail sector. | neilrr
26/9/2005 14:06 | 627k buy went through earlier, so why is shareprice down? I'm getting fed up with this company. My money would have been better off in a building society. This Angus Monro chap is being paid £300k a year to turn this around. Is he really worth it? | monkey66
24/9/2005 12:35 | I currently have no shares in the company at the moment. I have lost a lot over the last three years (Many thousands due to the initial euphoria!). Sold out a couple of weeks ago at 60pence, which in hindsight looks to be a good decision. I will look to get back in again at some stage, possibly on the results announcement in October. If companies such as Tesco are saying costs are rising due to fuel increases, looks as though this could be a problem here as well. Margins are better than they have been in recent years but the jury is still out as too whether the rebranding excercise is as positive as initially expected. I have a feeling that the update may be fairly mediocre which could wel see the price tumble to under 50pence once again. At this time i am prepared to sit on the sidelines and wait before being tempted back in. However, the company does owe me a lot! | anth21
23/9/2005 10:58 | Monro has had the uncanny knack of destroying shareholder value, look at Oys, Gal, what has he actually ever achieved? Matalan, Hargreves sacked him, why? Can any one tell me why we should have faith in his abilities? What is his track record? Where are his successes? Being a bully with your suppliers does not necessarily mean you can run a successful business, they need a top class MD to push the business forward otherwise we are lost!! | vera500
23/9/2005 08:16 | I bought 5k worth at 60p a long time ago. I believe that one day Mr M will bring the bacon home. Thats why i have held on all this time and why i will continue to hang on. I very nearly had my 5k back at the end of last week and was tempted to take it. As i said above this share signals its direction very well, loose talk etc. I would expect that this will go down further and if not bad news there will certainly be some more so-so news. | fozzie
22/9/2005 23:07 | snaptastic stop waffling on about charts - not once have any of yr predictions been right how did u manage to get out before price fell below 50p - you were still here towards the end of april when it was 50p 25 April - we could easily hit the mid 60's again on a good update imho... need some bullish comments about the distribution centre and the cost savings... results came out a few days after - they were as expected but over the space of a week or so the price had fallen on a daily basis to a low point of 42p - u see my problem u cant possibly have got out above 50p - be honest yr trying to save face after getting it so wrong after many months of bullish comments - no wonder u vanished for five months - dont be ashamed i bought at much higher price and still holding - no shame in getting it wrong snaptastic pls spare us any further fairytales or useless chart predictions because yr making yrself look very stupid - i thought all the b*llsh*tters like wackybackyman had vacated the site i was obviously wrong | fox mulder
22/9/2005 19:25 | i think this will fall to the 50p area (from the charts) where buyers will push it up again.. clearly been few buyers lately prepared to push it higher.. this move is bound to trigger a few stops and get the MM some cheap stock to offload higher later in the year.. i may rebuy around the 50 level if we get there, bailed out before below 50p but risk rewards suggests its a good price with better news recently imho.. cant see us breaking 65 area until post christmas update imho unless we get another bullish update before... | snaptastic
22/9/2005 16:49 | Looks like more disappointing news may be just around the corner! It has ticked up ever so slowly over the last week or so and then down down today. This share always signals its intentions. | fozzie
30/8/2005 17:07 | Any views on whether 'Bra Wars' will be the next convenient management excuse? | fantasy believer
18/8/2005 21:19 | i've understand money moves from a to b , as money pours away from the premium brands as m&s and the like it moves into other ting . i think inst id full of eastern promise. | bobble2
18/8/2005 12:21 | Wunderbar - Still holding, but like you am close to break even, hopefull for future, especially with downturn in retail sale's, lets hope the customers want cheap and cheerfull then the sales should continue to improve and the city will fall in love again. | chefman |
