Parliamentary Review Features Inspired Energy

Challenging energy cost volatility for UK Business

Inspired Energy (AIM: INSE), a leading UK energy procurement consultant to UK and Irish corporates is delighted to feature in the 2018 UK Parliamentary Review, a series of independent publications, which aim to share best practice among policy makers and business leaders.

The Parliamentary Review's March launch brings together the most creative and inspiring voices across business, industry, education and the public sector to share insight, encourage best practice and help organisations confront the challenges of an ever-changing political landscape. Co-chaired by Lord Blunkett and Lord Pickles, The Review features commentary from senior politicians including the Prime Minister.

As one of the UK's largest energy advisers, Inspired Energy works with private and public sector organisations to reduce their energy costs and usage. CEO Mark Dickinson tells the Parliamentary Review how it supports 2,000 business in managing their energy costs, allowing them to focus on running a successful business.

Importantly, he highlighted that amongst UK business input costs, that of energy is ever present as among the highest and most volatile, often severely challenging the ultimate profitability of a business: "Across the mainland UK and Ireland, we help 2,000 clients with over 100,000 retail, commercial and manufacturing premises. Collectively they spend GBP2.5 billion on energy each year. Failure to manage these costs jeopardises profits and competitive edge. This is where our team of industry experts help to significantly mitigate that risk."

He goes on to say that energy cost volatility should be recognised more readily, "Energy costs frequently rise by 50 per cent. They soared by over 100 per cent in a single year twice between 2005 and 2008, and by 50 per cent on three occasions within a single year between 2011 and 2018."

The article outlines some of the surprising statistics that energy buying can impact on your business and highlights some key areas to focus on, which enabled Inspired Energy to deliver over GBP100 million worth of historical revenue recovery to its clients over the past 18 months.
