29/3/2013 23:33 | kalkanite - I'll be Buying too... But only off the lower trend line. "Wait till it gets there" I tell myself. Meanwhile, it's still a Short imo, dyor. | nofool
29/3/2013 23:17 | He may be getting them from the company's own accounts rather than Digital Look. I can never understand why people go to these financial bb's and their questionable info when every company publishes its accounts on their own websites and the RNS. | jeffian
29/3/2013 21:17 | Kaffee Not sure where you are getting your figures from? Digital Look has EPS of 32.45p and dividends of 22.6p. I know the statement referred to lower end of expectations but that must still outstrip dividends by some margin. PS Nofool, I do enjoy your posts :-) if these fall much further I will be buying by the bucket load. | kalkanite
29/3/2013 10:39 | Has the conversation been done on this thread about the sustainability of a dividend policy where the DPS exceeds the EPS ? What was the outcome ? Progressive dividend policy I see, and I like the way the company are candid about their trading performance ahead of results... implies a certain amount of trustworthiness, but is the business model good if it's paying out more than it earns ?? Assuming a realistic ratio of say 50 - 70% (I've just skimmed VOD, LGEN RDSB for a rule of thumb) do you think this is the year they will cut ? | kaffee
28/3/2013 19:36 | nofool 17 Feb'13 - 11:20 - 1615 of 1633 0 0 edit nofool versus the Inde remember. Every little helps.. nofool 26 Feb'13 - 09:20 - 1616 of 1633 0 0 edit Simple: medium term sub 300, nofool wins. Above 400 - the Inde wins. Dr Biotech 26 Feb'13 - 09:56 - 1617 of 1633 0 0 Thats setting the odds in your favour - tip was circa 330 - according to your rules they have to hit +70 and you only need -30. 380/280 would be a fairer bet. nofool 26 Feb'13 - 10:50 - 1618 of 1633 0 0 edit OK Doc, as you say then. That Zak Mir calls it wrong too often for my liking, eh Doc? | nofool
27/3/2013 07:53 | Hmmmm. Things still pretty tough then with a tail off in March. PTP at the lower end of guidance too. Doesn't bode well for today. | cwa1
06/3/2013 10:47 | Fair enough Doc. "Unfortunately the worst posters are the most prolific." Good observation. I would guess that is because those posters are either elderly and possibly a bit gaga, or they are just the underemployed with nothing serious to put their minds too during the day. A study of this would be interesting.. Back to work! | nofool
06/3/2013 10:35 | I don't touch biotechs any more. I know this one is profitable and past the dangerous stage but I steer clear of them now. Problem is I get too involved (fall in love with the share I guess) and that screws my judgement. I see you are on the Vod thread - its my second largest holding so I am having a better day than normal. The thread there is appalling though so I rarely read it. Unfortunately the worst posters are the most prolific. | dr biotech
06/3/2013 10:25 | Now it doesn't Doc, take a peek..the share price is blasting | nofool
05/3/2013 16:22 | That thread just comes back to here. Tullet Prebon have their results out today and look decent enough. | dr biotech
28/2/2013 12:52 | Heh Doc, Jeff - you seen this one? IMO, it's a safer BET than IAP. DYOR | nofool
27/2/2013 11:25 | Agreed, it will Doc. (now get back to work lol) | nofool
27/2/2013 11:20 | Thanks for the kind words. I do have an account with IG and had some success with it a while back - but got greedy increased my trade size and that was that. Lost a few k overall - fingers burnt rather than any serious injury. Its something I may or may not go back to, but will only be a fun level. As for this one I am pretty much back to where I bought in - just before the plunge (this is from a man that bought BP as a nice safe stock a week before the horizon episode). Its a bit odd - this weeks volatility has spooked them a bit but should actually be good for their business - they wan't trades. Tullet Prebon have their results next week it will be interesting to see how they do. | dr biotech
27/2/2013 10:33 | Doc, it's no good 'hoping' imho. Maybe you are just too NICE to play the markets?? They are truly horrid and predictably irrational. The very opposite to your good self I would wager.. But agree, never the less it's a great hobby, trying to beat the market! But to stay in, you really MUST beat the market overall. I swing trade the solid stocks (up and down - VOD is one of my favourites over the years) and Buy into growth stocks and hold for a while..trailing my stops ever upwards (if I'm lucky that is!). IAP is a swing trader's dream stock imo. Look at the chart above.. When IAP goes back under 300p again, I am expecting it to bounce off around 250p next time. We'll have to see, but that is what I am trading for.. UP and DOWN 50+ points, at least every three months. Beautiful! DYOR (you were once into the biotech sector lol - proves you like a gamble you naughty boy!) | nofool
27/2/2013 10:29 | BELOW the tip price this morning. Expecting some volatility? I am! | nofool
26/2/2013 13:47 | I try and hold on for the medium term at least as I accept that I am a poor trader. When I first started I used to hold a lot of biotechs (I have a PhD in analytical biochemistry, hence the moniker) but that was a total disaster. More recently I have tried to hold a selection of growth and higher yielding shares. Its done better, but I am behind the index by some way. Its also a hobby, so like a new car I am prepared for it not to be a one way investment. This one is a minor play for me, but obviously I'd rather it went up than down. AV is my biggest, I just hope their results are good. | dr biotech
26/2/2013 11:37 | All great highly tradeable companies there Doc. Nothing to get depressed about, just improve on your timing a little and heh presto - Doc's a millionaire! These past five or six years on the stockmarkets of the world, I think has taught most investors, that they need to be really - traders. In and out on the waves; there is so much uncertainty and volatility. The next solid bull run will come again of course but who knows, we might be 20 or 30 years away from that..? | nofool
26/2/2013 11:10 | No - I have a "hold and regret" strategy on these that I use with the perennial losers such as AV and VOD. Its seems to match my "sell and regret" strategy that I have with others. BDEV being the worst. I really don't know why I bother, I am such a useless stock picker. | dr biotech
26/2/2013 10:50 | OK Doc, as you say then. Have you got out yet? | nofool
26/2/2013 09:56 | Thats setting the odds in your favour - tip was circa 330 - according to your rules they have to hit +70 and you only need -30. 380/280 would be a fairer bet. | dr biotech
26/2/2013 09:20 | Simple: medium term sub 300, nofool wins. Above 400 - the Inde wins. | nofool
17/2/2013 11:20 | nofool versus the Inde remember. Every little helps.. | nofool
15/2/2013 18:36 | Rated as a sell in this weeks IC. I still hold | dr biotech |
