RNS Number:5146U Gold Fields Ld 15 April 2002 MEDIA RELEASE Management Changes at Gold Fields Limited Johannesburg, Monday, 15 April, 2002: Gold Fields Limited (Nasdaq - GOLD and JSE - GFI) today announced its new management structure and associated appointments and changes in title, effective 15 April, 2002. This follows the announcement on 4 March, 2002 that Ian Cockerill will, as part of a planned succession, become President and Chief Executive Officer following the retirement of Chris Thompson on 30 June, 2002. Chris will retain the position of non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Gold Fields Corporate Executive Team Reporting to Ian Cockerill: Nick Holland, Chief Financial Officer; Mike Prinsloo, Executive Vice President and Head of South African Operations; Craig Nelsen, Executive Vice President: Exploration; John Munro, Senior Vice President and Head of International Operations; Jimmy Dowsley, Senior Vice-President: Corporate Development; Mike Adan, Senior Vice President: Human Resources; Terence Goodlace, Senior Vice President: Strategic Planning; Willie Jacobsz, Senior Vice President: Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs. Consequential Operational Appointments Reporting to Mike Prinsloo: Derrick Steyn takes over from Mike Prinsloo as Vice President and Head of Operations: Driefontein Division. Derrick was previously Senior Technical Manager at Driefontein. Howard Laycock moves to the Gold Fields Corporate Office where he takes over as Vice President: Technical Services from Brendan Walker. Dana Roets will remain as Vice President and Head of Operations: Free State Division. In a separate press release today, it was announced that Neal Froneman had joined Gold Fields to take over from Howard Laycock as Vice President and Head of Operations: Kloof Division. Brendan Walker has moved to Ghana as Vice President: Projects, reporting to Dick Greame, Vice President and Head of Operations: Gold Fields Ghana. Chris said: " I believe that Gold Fields now has an unparalleled management team and is well structured to take on the challenges of the next few years under Ian. The team has all the necessary skills to continue on the successes to date. This will work." Ian said: "All of the appointees are experienced members of the current Gold Fields leadership team. In addition Neal joins Gold Fields with an excellent track record as a mine operator. As a team we aim to build on the achievements of the past four years and to continue delivering superior returns to our shareholders".
