I would imagine you can not short GOS after they announced that huge rights issue at 3p, or have I just forgotten to start trading in my finspreads again to just short GOS.

Still technically insolvent in spite of taking the mid-range of the best estimate.

Rights might be, what, 530m at 3p to raise £15m? I've plucked a three for one because that is normally the case in reconstructions when a placing is out of the question.

But why new money? How much for every new pound that one puts in does one rescue in 2009? And there is still a cost of carry of three years on the new.

Further to the Company's announcement of 2 May 2006 in which the Company stated
that it expected to be able to report its preliminary results for the year
ending 31 December 2005 by 19 May 2006, the directors of GoshawK announce a
further delay in the reporting of these results.

The shares of the Company will remain suspended from trading until the Company
is in a position to report its preliminary results and the Company will update
the market as to that date in due course

There's no reason to buy ahead of suspension and every reason to sell - it's impossible to put a favourable spin on this latest news. I find it extraordinary that the price has held above 5p so far - 2p would seem a reasonable short-term target.

The interesting question is why the delay? There is no complexity that can justify it. Perhaps it relates to a more fundamental issue, such as a disagreement between management and auditors as to whether or not GOS is a going concern?

Goshawk Insurance Holdings PLC (the "Company")


As previously announced, the Company's Bermuda reinsurance subsidiary Rosemont
Re Ltd suffered substantial losses during the twelve months to 31 December 2005
and was placed in run-off in October 2005.

The preparation and audit of the 2005 year end financial statements based on an
updated actuarial report will take longer than in previous years and the Company
will be unable to meet the normal United Kingdom Listing Authority 120 day
deadline for reporting its preliminary results to the market.

The delay is likely to result in the suspension of the Company's shares from the
Official List and from trading on the London Stock Exchange from 2 May 2006. The
Directors expect that the full preliminary results statement will be issued no
later than 19 May 2006. Trading in the Company's shares will be resumed upon
issue of these results.

For the avoidance of doubt the Directors do not feel the need, at this time, to
release any update to the statement provided to the market in the announcement
dated 3 January 2006.

Upside for share price looks minimal, so I rolled forward all my shorts until June. Price now seems to be adjusting after a period of irrational exuberance.

Still no news on when the results come out. Perhaps they can't afford the printers?

That is always the great imponderable and I have a theory. Nevertheless, nor does it even matter, since when a share is suspended, 100% of the issued and alotted share capital is always held by a group of unfortunate souls and funds.
