Still raw from the Rogering I have taken here, but fwiw I also hope the team behind Go Enterprise get absorbed by another company, I just wonder how much of it's sales were overstated?

I'm good here thanks.

You haven't answered the question. What other usernames do you post under ?

How come you appear from nowhere having not posted on GBO let alone advfn since August ?

If you have to explain it then they are probably too stupid to understand

The definition of a shorter is someone who sells shares they do not own by making a binding commitment to buy those shares back at some point in the future and return them to their rightful owner.

The commitment has not ended and will not end until either the shares are returned or the company is officially dissolved and all shares are cancelled - this is the point when you can, if you held, offset your losses against Capital Gains Tax too. It could be over a year before GBO is finally dissolved.

You pay for the privilege of borrowing the shares until you return them or they are cancelled. So even the big boys have an incentive to pay a small amount to buy shares to return them to their rightful owner.

QPP is still trading GBO is not. The situation at AFREN is a better analogue.

If I had to choose between Evil and Roger Lawson to run the GBO SHAG I would chose Evil every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

The big players are borrowing stock and selling it in the market and get paid at that point. They pay a fee to borrow off the nominee brokers and other large holders. Go and have a look at what happened at QPP, BlackRock and other finds actually shafted themselves and (funny that) started to wonder afterwards if they had done the right thing. Spreadbetters and CFD traders, PI small fry punters yes, but not the serious shorters.

RCTurner, you clearly have no idea how shorting works across the various methods used.

Shorters will get all their money eventually, but until something is set up to either net off the positions or the shares are officially declared worthless their winnings are tied up.

How do Shorts sell stock they don't own ?

When they 'Sell' they are 'Selling' stock they don't own in expectation of covering the sale by buying stock later. That is why the shorts check 'borrow' before shorting.

Grant Thornton UK is regulated by ICAEW. A complaint to them might be a good first step. complaints@icaew.com

I am reliably informed that they do actually do a proper job when complained to (unlike FCA and AIM Regulation). It would be better if you got an Action Group together to make a coherent complaint, rather than just bombard them with vitriol.

If sharesoc are going to take serious and proper action then they would be well placed, however Roger Lawson is badly conflicted and discredited in this matter and may not be the best person to lead an Action Group.

Shorts have already got their money. They get paid when they sell the shares into the market.

Despite the ignorant scorn from someone who clearly has no interest in helping anybody, setting up a grey market where holders can get something back to enable shorts to close is a good idea that helps both. Holders' shares are worth 0p, shorts will get 100% eventually, but is can take quite a while so that is money tied up doing nothing which also attracts interest charges.

Obviously it takes a mature attitude to see this and take advantage of something that really does help everyone long and short.

Simon....I think it is better if you let an investor organisation such as ShareSoc take a lead on this. If you want to be involved in the Action group committee that will be set up to run it then just let ShareSoc know

Re 25217, Good for them. I always believed there was a proper product with real potential in this business. Hopefully somebody will see the opportunity to buy Go!E from the (inevitable) administrators and these guys can keep their jobs.

RE 22533, Of course the money has gone.

Gentlemen,

As some followers of this thread may know I put up the idea of investigating Globo to Gabriel Grego. I did this not so much to keep the fellow busy but because it seemed to me that there was strong circumstantial evidence of fraud. As we now know it was Gabriel's full enquiry that did for Costis and Co..

I am sure that others have had the same idea but, amongst questions that can reasonably be raised, some could be directed to the auditors.

I am very mildly minded to co-ordinate an action group.

If anyone would care to explain in great detail what they have lost and as a result whom they would blame, my email is: cawkwell@btinternet.com.

Applicants are warned that legal action is very expensive and slow. Therefore only cases that are copper-bottomed should be considered.

Barclays' actions and the final directors/secretary's resignations would appear to establish the ground for administrators (if there is any cash to administer).

The directors are guilty either way. Either they were complicit or so stupid they have failed in their duties as directors. Clearly different levels of guilt, but guilt either way
