                       Genesis Malaysia Maju Fund Limited

The Board of Genesis Malaysia Maju Fund Limited announces the retirement from
the Board with immediate effect of Mr Coen Teulings and Mr Azman Mokhtar. Mr
Jeremy Paulson-Ellis is stepping down as Chairman of the Board, but will remain
a Director of the Company.

The Board is pleased to announce that, subject to receipt of regulatory
approval, the following independent Directors have been appointed:

Gordon Young.  Mr Young was an Investment Banker with N M Rothschild, Smith New
Court and then with Merrill Lynch for whom he was senior relationship manager
for, amongst other countries, Malaysia.  Mr Young will become Chairman of the
Fund.

Dato Noorazman Abd Aziz.  Dato Noorazman has recently resigned as head of
Corporate Banking at Citigroup Malaysia, prior to which he was Chief Operating
Officer of Bursa Malaysia (the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange).

There are no other matters requiring disclosure under paragraph 16.4 of the FSA
Listing Rules.
