FINSBURY INTERNATIONAL HEDGE INVESTMENT COMPANY LIMITED

Finsbury International Hedge Investment Company Limited ("the Company") has
given notice that an extraordinary general meeting of the Company is to be
held on 26 August 1999.  

Shareholders are being asked to approve two special resolutions.  The first
resolution is in connection with a borrowing facility for up to US$25 million,
representing currently approximately 33.5% of the Company's net assets.
Although no increase in gearing beyond this level is contemplated, it is
proposed to increase the borrowing powers of the Company from 20% of net asset
value to 50% of net asset value in order to provide the flexibility to respond
to changes in markets.  The second resolution to change the name of the
Company to Finsbury Alternative Investment Strategies Limited.

Copies of the circular letter to shareholders and the notice of extraordinary
general meeting are available for inspection at the offices of Finsbury Asset
