RNS Number:3750E EnCore Oil PLC 24 September 2007 Press Release For immediate release: 24 September 2007 EnCore Oil plc ("EnCore" or "the Company") Commencement of Drilling Operations on Breagh Gas Appraisal Well EnCore Oil plc (LSE: EO.) is pleased to announce that drilling operations on the Breagh appraisal well on Southern North Sea block 42/13 have commenced. The Breagh gas discovery was made in 1997 by well 42/13-2 drilled by Mobil, which encountered a 450 ft gas column and a net gas pay of approximately 68 ft within sandstones of the Lower Carboniferous Scremerston Formation. The well was cored and logged but tested at sub-commercial flow rates, believed to be due to formation damage that occurred during drilling and completion of the well. The well is designed with the principal objective of achieving a test flow rate representative of the undamaged formation, which will be important in determining the commercial viability of the discovery. The well is being drilled by the ENSCO 85 jack-up rig and is operated by Sterling Resources Limited, which holds a 50 per cent. interest in the licence. EnCore will fund 30 per cent. of the planned gas appraisal well to earn a 15 per cent. equity. Graham Dore B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology and EnCore's Exploration Director, who has over 20 years' experience in the oil exploration and production industry, has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in this announcement. At EnCore, it is not the Company's aim to build a full cycle E&P company. The principal strategy is to create shareholder value through the successful exploration and appraisal of prospects and discoveries. The Company will seek to monetise or exchange the asset at the appropriate point in its life cycle and return value directly to shareholders wherever possible. EnCore has an experienced and proven management team, a number of whom were responsible for the discovery of the Buzzard field in the UK North Sea, which currently produces 10 per cent. of the UK's total oil production. All EnCore's commercial and material technical evaluations are undertaken in-house by the EnCore team. This brings both continuity to the management and development of the assets and an ownership that is vital to unearth the best and most creative new ideas and opportunities. EnCore currently holds a balanced portfolio of interests in licences both on and offshore, primarily focused on the UKCS. During 2007/2008 EnCore expects to participate in the drilling of at least twelve wells. www.encoreoil.co.uk This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock Exchange END DRLLIMITMMITBFR
