Makes sense i suppose; when the results were announced I was thinking they could do with strengthening the balance sheet, but I rather thought that, in the current climate, a placement would need to be at too much of a discount to make it palatable.

However the price is probably right at the top end of what they could have expected to acheive and this clearly demonstrates there is institutional demand for the shares.

EBTM

EBTM plc

('EBTM' or 'the Company')

Institutional Placing

EBTM plc, the online retailer of music inspired clothing, has raised £675,000 before expenses through the placing of 19,285,715 new ordinary shares ('Placing Shares') with institutional investors at a price of 3.5p per share. The proceeds will be used for additional working capital and to fund the future development of the Company. Application will be made for the new ordinary shares to be admitted to trading on AIM and it is expected that admission will take place on 10 July 2008.

The Placing Shares represent 7.17 per cent. of the enlarged share capital of the Company and will be issued pursuant to the Company's existing authorities. Following the issue of the Placing Shares, the Company will have 269,097,744 ordinary shares in issue.

Richard Breeden, Chief Executive, said:

'Following the excellent progress reported in our preliminary results for the year ended 30 April 2008, as announced on 17 June 2008, we are very pleased to have raised these new funds which will further underpin our strategy of strong growth. With online retailing predicted to continue to grow rapidly, the Board views the outlook for the business in the current financial year as extremely positive.

How long before these posts are deleted? This is a rampers only thread so maybe I shouldnt bother voicing an opinion on what is supposed to be a discussion forum.

My opinion is that Atticus was a great brand with a great story, at the time Blink were massive 5 or 6 years ago, it was extremely popular for a while. That whole scene is now dying off and I stand by the point in my earlier post, Atticus's best days are long gone. FACT.

I am aware he is still the major shareholder, however with or without the shares he was always going to offload Atticus/Lowlife for £3M. He has bagged himself a very good deal just in cash terms, the shares are a bonus.

I believe Mr Dales has a considerable interest in EBTM shares does he not !!

Why would he bother to hang around, he has sold 2 minor clothing brands for a very good price, he has taken his money and run.

It is good to see the effort ebtm are putting in trying to revive the brand in the US, but it is like trying to flog a dead horse, Atticus only ever sold because of the Blink connection.

It will be impossible to hit the sales figures of previous years again, there is nothing behind to back it up any more.

It has to be said Mr Dales timing was near perfect.

GL to all holders, you will need it.

Fairly obvious.

Dale Masters has stepped down from the board with immediate effect. Dale has helped
considerably with the integration of the Lowlife and
Atticus businesses and brands. He will be relocating back to his homeland of Australia in due
course and we wish him every success for the
future.

I wonder why Mr Masters decided to leave EBTM after selling his company for £4m. Surely a cushy job with a salary of 100k p/a and the reportedly good prospects for the company going forward, this does not make sense.

They are doing loads of graft on the Warped tour - grass roots promotional work running competitions, sponsoring signing sessions etc which should definitely help as it is a huge tour.

looks like Atticus is getting some traction in the US market.

This is a new retailer for Atticus. 6 of 8 are marked as best sellers

But it is not all doom and gloom for retailers, consumers have not curbed their spending online as recent trading updates from pure play online retailers Asos and EBTM both detailed positive news.

Results from EBTM last week saw the online music-inspired fashion retailer beat expectations and report maiden profits of £0.85m on the back of 401 per cent revenue growth. Its online sales grew 37 per cent, and broker Blue Oar expects further growth of 50 per cent in 2009 proving that while consumers are not spending on big ticket items, they are still spending to look good.

In the header there is an interview with Richard Breeden from March last year, by BB poster Radarlove. (last box at the bottom)

Although the Company has transformed since then, its still really worth a read.

RL - May be a good time to think about a follow up interview??

Pleasing to see the strong acceleration in the online retail business in the second half - more visitors and rising conversion rates equated to H2 sales rising 75% over H1
