I am not quite sure how you reach the conclusion that "good percentage of the workforce would lose their jobs" Its the first time I have ever heard of a private equity firm being painted as the good guys, I have always found that to make the returns that their demanding investors want they have to cut cost and gear up a business. Given the monopoly cash flows that DVW has this is an ideal candidate for that treatment. SVT are much bigger and will always be able to extract more from the asset as they have on the ground synergies, how do you know that it won’t be SVT jobs that are cut, they have said that they will bring all the Welsh parts under Welsh regulatory supervision. I think that SVT have lost the PR battle but may still win the game.
I am not impatient for my money but merely an opportunity to purchase more at a lower level as nervous private clients panic out.

Thanks for the Info regarding the Ancala bid.

I made a decision on selling some of my shares on the market at 1800+ due to being a very risk averse investor ( ever since Northen rock :( )

I get it that some posters think its a done deal/all over, however due to the growing political pressure pushing for a phase 2 CMA, industry regulator unhappiness( cc water etc not OFWAT) and the way the shareholder vote is structured, then I have less confidence in the outcome for the SVT 1825 bid, hence splitting my risk, and taking some profit on the market, not sure this makes me a fully fledged turkey, perhaps more of a chicken.

I do take the point of Ellie15, Ancalas statement seems to indicate that they are willing now to take 51% majority shareholding, this would leave remaining shareholders with their shares and their dividends, also leaving a local firm with a local supply chain.

If you check out the water only bills of both companies as a straight comparison the DVW are substantially lower cost to consumers than SVT are to theirs. How SVT can make the inference that their best practices will lower bills in the DVW area when they are running at such a premium in their existing area of supply is a mystery ( one off head count savings would be the only way)

Sold some of my shares on the exchanges, If SVT fail in the vote, as is a possibility, the price could well drop. Would look to buy back then.

A question for the more experienced investors.

Why would Ancala not withdraw their offer, why leave it on the table?

A chance a glimmer of hope, thanks Linhur.

Also a bit surprised there is no Loan note alternative.

Cant work out if its incompetence, inexperienceor impudence..

Left thinking if it's because Ancala can't manage a takeover!

If they cant manage a takeover with their alleged backgrounds they should not be given the chance of running anything as complex as a water only utility IMHO.

I can hear it now "oh we forget to check the nitrate level we were in London".....

Left feeling neither DVW, Ancala or the Government care about Long term and or Private Investors and certainly no rewarded for their loyalty and having the guts to leave their saving in shares.

Hoping to see compulsory acquisition prevented...

Downward movement on less than 2K shares sold.

Hope for a reasonable divi increase next week - or whenever they deign to announce their Finals. Usually very cautious rise.

They're not too strong on Financial Calendar for investors.

Looks as though DVW might be going through a rough patch. It might be due to difficulties with the regulator. OFWAT propose to divide the sector into three areas - good/moderate/bad and DVW might be in the second or third tier. This is likely to affect the prices they can charge.

New management will take time to bed down.

Final reason for share price drop might be profit taking from private investors.

Up against the market with a few shares traded.

Do investors believe that this company is so well run that it will not face harsh conditions from the regulator?

Or that it is a bite sized takeover target?

It does look grim and probably will until Ofwat's announcement in December. I would be surprised if Ofwat are too tough as DVW still need to be able to attract investors for capital works and make profits to pay for bad debtors and environment and EU regulatory related costs. Water being possibly the most regu;ated industry and Dee Valley being one of the smallest.

Thank you Scribller101 and jeffian for patronage of the new thread.
