RNS Number:5962R CybIT Holdings PLC 22 September 2005 Cybit Holdings PLC ("Cybit" or "the Group") Cybit launches telematics based Duty of Care module Cybit has become the first Telematics Service Provider (TSP) to offer proactive risk management for fleet operators, in a move which could add significant new product and consulting revenue streams. The company's new Duty of Care module is believed to be the industry's first telematics-enabled system which will provide vehicle fleet operators with the ability to conduct driver and vehicle risk assessments. The module is an integral component of the Fleetstar-Online platform, and will allow companies to address issues raised by the Corporate Manslaughter Bill, by producing detailed reports highlighting fleet non-compliance such as excessive journeys, driving licence status, training records and fleet servicing. Furthermore, the reporting provided within the Duty of Care module can help to ensure businesses manage their obligations under the Working Time Directive and therefore minimise risk. This will allow the company to monitor individual working patterns, ensuring legislative compliance, and will give an analysis of working conditions, ensuring health and safety parameters are achieved. Richard Horsman, Cybit's CEO, commented: "With the forthcoming Corporate Manslaughter Bill set to arrive during the next 18 months, we're expecting Duty of Care to quickly become a main board issue - particularly as it is the board directors who will be liable for prosecution, should their business not take reasonable care for the safety of their employees. By offering a telematics-enabled Duty of Care module we can provide organisations with the core driver and vehicle data they need to manage their risk effectively, and we can also support companies with specialist consultancy services designed to help them develop and implement their own Duty of Care policies and procedures." In addition to the Duty of Care solution, Cybit will also be introducing a Driver ID module which will give operators the ability to remotely identify who is driving a given vehicle at any time. It will also provide complete control over exactly which drivers are allowed to drive each vehicle within a fleet, by confirming a driver's identity through either a personal PIN code, a smartcard or by using a Dallas key. When integrated with the Fleetstar-Online Duty of Care module, the system can automatically control access to vehicles where a valid training certificate is required or where a driving licence check is overdue. This capability over-rides normal access security and provides further risk management protection from a Health & Safety compliance and corporate Duty of Care legislation perspective. "If incorrect driver identification is entered, GPRS-enabled Fleetstar-Online will immobilise the vehicle, stopping an unauthorised driver putting him or herself at risk, and removing the threat of litigation against the company if an accident does occur. Telematics has a growing role to play in the safe and considered management of any business that relies on vehicles as part of their day to day work" added Mr Horsman. Cybit's modular Fleetstar-Online technology platform is the industry's first fully-scalable telematics solution and using GPRS technology allows 24/7 real time monitoring, which provides a range of management information to help improve efficiency and reduce costs. 22 September 2005 Enquiries: College Hill Mark Garraway 020 7457 2007 Stephen Davie 020 7457 2004 About Cybit: Cybit is a leading Internet-based Telematics Service Provider (TSP) and supplier of fleet and asset management solutions to the business-to-business sector.
