RNS Number:8393O CybIT Holdings PLC 03 January 2007 3rd January 2007 Cybit Plc BlueFinger providing #1m Fisheries Vessel Monitoring System to Thales UK Cybit (AIM:CYH), a leading Telematics Service Provider, announces that its BlueFinger subsidiary has been selected by Thales UK to supply a fisheries Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) worth more than #1m as part of a larger system that Thales will deliver to a client in Africa. BlueFinger is one of the world's leading suppliers of Economic Exclusion Zone management systems that cover all aspects of coastal surveillance, monitoring and control. Its maritime telematics solutions are used by government agencies to protect and manage sovereign assets including valuable fish stocks. The contract with Thales requires BlueFinger to install VMS management software at a number of key client locations. The software will be used to track 400 fishing vessels, each of which will carry a tamperproof satellite tracking transponder also supplied by BlueFinger. The system will utilise the Inmarsat satellite network to report fishing vessel position data, derived from the Global Positioning System (GPS). The Inmarsat communications service will be used also to provide fishery patrol vessels with important operational information taken from the VMS management software ashore. The contract also requires BlueFinger to supply software to enable the transponder-derived information from the fishing vessels to be correlated with radar information taken from existing navigation radars situated along the coastline. The VMS management segment is due to be installed over the next six months, with the transponders being installed shortly thereafter. The complete system is scheduled to be operational by mid-2007. BlueFinger was acquired by Cybit for #1.6m in June 2006 and has since announced a #0.5m extension to its VMS contract with the Ghanaian Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Richard Horsman, Chief Executive Officer of Cybit said: "This is a significant contract for BlueFinger and strengthens its position as the leading VMS supplier on the African continent." "Cybit's decision to acquire BlueFinger was based upon its ability to deliver large, bespoke solutions such as this and it is very encouraging to have won this contract so soon after the acquisition. The win will contribute significantly to BlueFinger's business performance in the period to Cybit's fiscal year end on 31st March 2007."
