Aberdeen City Council signs #221,000 order for Cybit's internet-based telematics
solution



Cybit (AIM: CYH), the UK's leading provider of internet-based telematics, has
strengthened its presence in the public sector with a #221,000 contract to
supply Aberdeen City Council with a Fleetstar-Online solution to manage more
than 90 specialist vehicles.



The contract, won after a competitive tender, follows a successful six-month
trial with Fleetstar Online which identified that annual savings of more than
#5,000 per vehicle could be achieved with a full implementation.



Aberdeen City Council will deploy Fleetstar-Online to manage 92 vehicles in its
Refuse Department, including general refuse trucks, recycling vehicles, street
cleaners and road sweepers. If annualised savings of #5,000 per vehicle are
achieved, the deployment could pay for itself in less than six months.



Fleetstar-Online is Cybit's scalable Internet-based telematics solution that
features real-time vehicle tracking, exception reporting, replay mode,
customised reports, mileage information, SMS messaging and live traffic
information. Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit
(IVU) which is tracked by GPS in real-time and then transmits data to Cybit's
online control centre. It provides companies with a cost-effective
internet-based fleet management solution, which offers users anytime, anywhere
access to the system via a standard web browser.



The Council has opted for an extensive solution including GPS/GPRS vehicle
tracking to ensure that vehicles are used at maximum efficiency, thus reducing
fuel costs and unnecessary driver overtime.

and makes every vehicle more productive and efficient."

sector, including refuse collection, road gritting and gulley emptying. With

vehicle tracking device is fitted to a vehicle and linked to specialised
equipment via a manufacturers interface e.g. a gritter control unit indicating
gritter activity.
