Posted at 30/4/2005 12:48 by tony14 LONDON (AFX) - Culver Holdings PLC reported a pretax loss of 25,000 stg forthe year to end-Dec 2004, a reduction from the loss of 384,000 stg seen a year earlier. The group said turnover for the period was 3.44 mln stg, up from 3.3 mln. The group said the impact of softening rates in the general commercial insurance market mentioned in the interim statement was less severe than anticipated in the second half of 2004 and as a result the income of the insurance broking business improved over the previous year. However, it said the impact of the development expenditure of Bizcover did result in a diminution of profit for the full year as compared to 2003. This will not be repeated in 2005 as the necessary action to reduce that expenditure was taken in the second half of 2004. In other ways, both the London and the Cardiff insurance broking businesses made steady progress in increasing income and controlling costs over the year and this is continuing into 2005, the board said. The company also announced today that the board has decided to propose a re-organisation of the company's share capital through a sub-division and re designation of the existing shares into ordinary shares and deferred shares followed by a consolidation of the new ordinary shares. In practical terms, this will leave shareholders with a smaller number of shares but the value of their total shareholding should not be reduced. The board said the current price at which the company's shares trade also acts as a dis-incentive to members of the company's share option schemes. It is intended that at the time of the reconstruction of the share capital new option scheme arrangements will also be proposed. In due course, the company also said it hopes to be able to pay dividends by offsetting the deficit on reserves against the company's share premium account. The group has reduced its interest in the business of providing independent financial advice to individuals in South Wales but continues to develop its employee benefits business both in Cardiff and the Thames Valley. The group said that overall it looks to the group's future with optimism. newsdesk@afxnews.com slm/ COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005. All rights reserved. Posted at 18/4/2005 14:07 by responsible lad Must be a bargain for 5p. When these first demerged from another share in the market at 20p a few years ago, they shot up to about £1.10 in 3 days. |
Posted at 30/3/2005 16:55 by responsible lad Dropped in price for no reason at all. This one is definately a bargain. They say to buy low and to sell higher, so I rate this share a strong buy. |
Posted at 12/1/2005 15:47 by recruiter I work in the recruitment market, specialising in insurance. If Culver (as per their newsflow at results last year) are hoping to grow purely by recruiting new business producers then they are in cloud cuckoo land. These people are like goldust & anyone who is decent at being a new business producer is already employed & paid handsomely. Is their office in Berks just for financial services, or do they administer general insurance out of it aswell ? Low market cap is intriguing, the market is undergoing major changes & there are a number of players chomping at the bit to buy any broker that wants to be sold. However businesses are bought on a scale of say 1x their commission income, perhaps as low as just 0.75 x commission income. That would still give a share price double to that currently I s'pose. Worth me doing some more digging on these as I do not recruit for them. |
Posted at 17/9/2003 09:56 by latifs100 Last year, sales for continuing operations was 2.82 mln stg, against 2.271mln stg the previous year while operating profit was 45,000 against a loss of 1.982 mln before. Pretax loss was 9,000 stg against a loss of 3.747 mln. a great groeth company, possibly a atkeover target, has been growing by acquistions and organicallly, losses narrowed, also a great day trading share. any views? trades are not instantly displayed, delayed trades and this will rocket. wdik |

Posted at 13/6/2001 16:41 by martin036 Am I right in saying over 90% of the 10.35m shares in issue are held by institutions and directors which leaves only approx. 1m shares in the free market? :Major Shareholders: (12 Jun 01) 10.35m 25p Ords - Penlee Holdings Ltd 18.62%(dup), Henry Ting 13.98%, Laing & Cruickshank Inv Mgt 9.34%, REC Holdings Limited 8.53%, Mrs M H Golley 6.21%, Aralon Resources 5.38%, J C M Biles 13.94%(dup), R M H Read 8.74%, A J Biles 4.91%(dup), Other Dirs 0.52%. Any hefty buying of this tommorrow is going to send the price soaring, or am I missing something here? |
