1997 INTERIM REPORT FOR THE 27 WEEKS ENDED 5 JULY 1997

Directors Statement

The Company has not traded during the period and interest was received on funds
held on deposit from which the dividend due to the preference shareholders for
the half year to 5 July 1997 was paid on 1 July 1997.

The directors have decided not to declare an interim dividend on the ordinary
shares.

The interim report will be sent to ordinary shareholders and made available to
the public at the registered office at Geest PLC, West Marsh Road, Spalding,
Lincolnshire, PE11 2BB.
