The stars are actually the management and hard working employees at Chieftain. It makes my life easy as a researcher, investor and commentator to see a company where the old fashioned work ethics are paramount and they just keep delivering good results. No fancy bonuses, no ridiculous option packages and this company certainly saw the hard times so even if they were not in such a great position right now I would still put my money on them to come out on top.

As it is though I confidently expect some rather good news compared to the general market woes and CFT will stand out as a very nice investment paying a safe healthy dividend too.

If you have bad news then a company is likely to try and hide it on a Friday afternoon before the bank holiday Monday...ie at the end of this week or during the following week when all the commentators and investors are on their holidays.

Good news should be released when they are back at their desks. I remain positive so expect a morning announcement in the week beginning Monday 1st September.

Fantastic results. One would think that in these difficult times, that companies like this would be "safe havens" for investors' cash. The past few weeks have taught us there is no such thing as "safe as houses"..or "safe as teh Bank of England", but companies like this, with strong profits, dividends, growth, cash....are as close as you will get.

New highs; breakout; blue sky job!

What a superb little business this is - just keeps getting better and better; and it seems a lot of other investors are catching on too.

Good yield as well!

I understand Chieftain has just been tipped in this November issue of the Growth Company Investor heading out to subscribers today

The last para states.....

Those estimates mean the shares are trading on just over 14 times this year's forecast earnings, falling to just over 12 times for the following year. As the volatility of the business continues to reduce, we think these ratings are undemanding. Investors should note that the shares yield around three per cent and there is scope for a steady increase in the dividend. That makes the shares attractive in terms of both growth and income. Buy.

No mention of the large net cash position though...

If anyone noticed, there is a small write up in this week's Investors Chronicle. Fairly brief..and obviously not researched by the IC boys in any detail at all, but ascribed a "Fairly Priced" view.

If there are any more contracts, I think I can guess exactly how they will be announced:-

1) A Director will buy lots of shares
2) A couple of days later, an RNS will come out saying they are "bidding" for two contracts
3) They will add 200 more staff onto their payroll
4) People in Cheiftain Overalls will be spotted working in the new businesses
5) An RNS will come out a month later, confirming the contracts have been won
6) Fools and ADVFN posters will work out that the contracts should be worth another 5p of Earnings.
7)THe Broker will issue a new note confirming that Profits for 2006 will be unchanged, exactly as they always told us..in spite of the order book passing the Century mark! Based on Fools earnings forecasts, the P/E is 3. Based on The brokers, it remains stubbornly at 12.
8) Only eagle eyes investors will spot, in the next Interims, that it was 3 new contracts all along.

21,324 sells by the look of it with no buyers i assume. I have a small holding for the long-term,so hope it's just a bit of profit taking.
Good Luck to all investors!!
