24/10/2006 22:09 | promethean - 26 Apr'06 - 10:52 - 232 of 2423 i've just sold mine, primarily because the first signs of marketing are abysmal - the picture of someone with a billboard saying 'i'm unlucky' is just the wrong way to go about this - would you go to a casino with that kind of marketing.... no... people gamble and play lotteries because of dreams, because of hope, because of the idea that they may be lucky one day. This kind of negative marketing is completely stupid and has certainly not drawn me in... ...aside from that, i think the online sales model is fairly useless too - the National Lottery makes most of its sales from the type of people who are least likely to have a computer and are the most desperate. I would be surprised if chariot was even as successful as a scratchcard. .................... prom .. you share genius ... have you got any tips ? | ihavenoclue

24/10/2006 22:00 | someuwin - 31 Mar'06 - 09:48 - 48 of 2421 Well, If we extrapolate those figures above we can see that: At Year End 2007 with expected Earnings Per Share of 107p ... If we take a modest PE ratio of 10 we get a Share Price of £10.70 If we take an average PE ratio of 15 we get a Share Price of £16.05 If we take a higher PE ratio of 20 we get a Share Price of £21.40 It certainly makes today's £1.60 look extremely good value! .................... and someulose .... famous last words !!! | ihavenoclue

24/10/2006 19:23 | Anyone who ever thought this was more than a speculative punt really should not be investing in shares. It was a start-up in an entirely new concept. NO-ONE could know if it would be a great success or the flop it turned out to be. Such things are fun but should never involve so much cash that a 100% loss is more than mildly annoying. | scribbler101
24/10/2006 19:17 | How many of the shares in free float not held by insts or others in large numbers | william-just
24/10/2006 18:50 | By the way Kath85, I'm not having a go at your post. I just can feel how gutted they must have been. A £10K invest at float now worth £90 and all the people desperate to get in as it approach 200p. I would have been sick to my stomach. Feels bad enough having positions from 6p to 1.5p. | david_g
24/10/2006 18:45 | Kath85, I'm not sure anyone on here has been saying (recently) that Chariot are a great stock to invest in (not in the real sense of the word) although I admit that earlier posts make for painful reading. Most are just having a punt at present rather than a well thought out investment. At best you have buy and hold then forget and maybe get a pleasant surprise (unlikely). Keeps things interesting. I suspect that most people on here now are the lucky ones who did not lose fortunes in the 215p to 1p drop. I suspect they may not appreciate the wry smile given their misfortune especially from a fellow investor. Many people inc. analysts and institutions got caught up in this thing. Also, the people that doubled their money on Chariot and got out will no doubt think it a substantially better return than "safe, boring" companies not to mention some of the short sellers that caught 150p of the slide (one of the people on this board in fact). You can make a "guaranteed" return in many areas like bonds etc , depends on your view on risk vs reward. | david_g
24/10/2006 16:53 | Some info for the 'old CRT' crowd. You can ignore all of this if you just got in at 1.2 (LOL!) Chariot tickets sales this week were 87,620 (eg £1,528,567 - £1,502,281 x 3.333333333333). Heres a question. Previous week were the worst ever and the biggest % drop ever. These are roughly about the same. But they followed a load of bad publicity about the company. Wondering about player behavior. Did some withdrew their wallets? Did some splurge the contents on one final go in the belief company is heading under? None of it matters in terms of current price, just in picking over the bones. | tootingbecks
24/10/2006 16:27 | I can't help but having a wry smile on my face when I read all these posts about how Chariot is a great stock to invest in. You folks who got your fingers burnt will perhaps now acknowledge that the only way to make guaranteed profit is to invest in safe, boring compamies such as Kelda or AWG or United Utilities who pay out generous dividends and aren't likely to crash. AIM shares are intrinsically unstable and only fools dare to tread where wise men (or women) don't. | kath85
24/10/2006 16:21 | I'm just looking to get out of my -£600 P&L. Had written it off to be honest but got in again yesterday to average down (v limited extra exposure) and am out at 3.75p break even. I have long December spreadbets at 6.5p, 5.7, 3.1 and 1.5. Whoever made the comment about forgetting about the 'old CRT' as what may happen going forward is different has a well made point. Hoping it will gap through 3.75. Worried we didnt get follow through today though but its only £600. I dropped £35K in 3 hours after the Madrid bomb... I really hoped the new(er) CRT backers could turn it around. I like turnround stories.... | david_g
