stale bulls and mug pumpers probably don't want you to follow anthony boltons advice not to trust chinese companies because they are 'great liars'

StewJames 26 Jan'13 - 17:56 - 4176 of 4177 0 0

Joe, with the Chinese companies, there's the additional problem that the entire system within which they operate is hopelessly corrupt, and (from comments I've read by those with more than passing familiarity) that the business culture in China accepts as routine actions that would be considered deeply unethical here.

No shortage of dubious British AIM companies, I agree, but the problem is not so bad that you should just flat out avoid all of them. And yes, it is the UK regulators fault.

Why I don’t buy Chinese stocks on AIM

By Tom Bulford

Sep 18, 2012

Greg Rudd, the brother of the former Australian prime minister, once met a Chinese businessman who gave him some prudent advice.

"You tend to see the good in people, Mr Rudd", he started. "People like you. You laugh a lot. But you’ll never make money in China with that attitude. You’ll only be taken advantage of. People will trade off you. They won’t pay you. The number one rule of doing business in China is this; never trust a Chinaman. Why would you as a foreigner trust a Chinese businessman when we as Chinese don’t trust each other?"

Now that advice is pretty close to the bone. But I’ve said it before in Penny Sleuth – you have to be very careful when you invest in a Chinese company. The record of AIM-listed Chinese companies is simply awful. And with so many still coming to market, there is a real chance that many private investors will end up making some very expensive mistakes…

you say 'we've all read it' but the people on NBU thread saw it and didn't read it so it bears constant repetition

next shoe to drop?

anything chinese on AIM is now deeply suspect

bear in mind there were many NBU mug punters also in this so they may be selling CAMK to cover their NBU losses and margin calls

Figures due any day now!
"Our R&D department has been working hard on our new product range that we will be showcasing to our distributors at the 2015 Spring / Summer Sales Fair, which will be held in Jinjiang on 4 August 2014. With regards to the proposed manufacturing facility that we outlined at the time of our final results, we can report that we are currently in advanced negotiations on a site which is located near to the train station in our home town of Jinjiang. We look forward to reporting further updates on both the Sales Fair and the land acquisition when we announce our interim results in September 2014."

CAMK have been tainted by NBUs recent news that it's divi is being pulled. The fact is that CAMK are not in the same business (selling trainers) albeit a retailer. Thus far their figures have been good and have maintained a relatively high yielding dividend payment.Trading is also in line with market expectations. On the face of it the shares are looking a bargain. The scare mongers (shorters) are out to make hay that all Chinese business are dodgy.
For now I'll stick with facts and avoid sentiment.

Yes, I'd bet on a slightly reduced (but not cut) divi. And JQW's 5p special shows that not all Chinese co's are Naibu.

Last year's interim was 2.3p and final 2p so not sure what to expect really. Hopefully there will be clarity going forward.

Last interims they said:
The Board continues to view the future with confidence and remains committed to its progressive dividend policy based on the Group's long-term prospects.

Last finals they said:
In reaching its decision about the final dividend, the Board, whilst remaining confident on the Group's prospects, has taken into account the meaningful investment programme discussed above.

My guess - interim of 1.5p

Dribbles? If Camkids doesn't at least maintain the divi they will get slaughtered imo, as they will be put in the same basket as Naibu.

Agree the company looks far better on management/trust. But the management has an uphill task on the sentiment front due to other chinese companies on AIM which have been dire. Proper appreciation will take quite a long time.

Quality of management here seems much higher than NBU.Far fewer mistakes!

Confident we'll be higher in a month or so.

All too predictable events at Naibu today have blown a hole in sentiment here. CAMK need to declare a decent dividend for the half year to underline the difference between this and NBU, and looking at the reported balance sheets and overall company profile, there is a big difference. If the dividend dribbles away here as well then so will the share price.

Given the recent increase - I would expect Simon Thompson to do an update for Investor Chronicle. This usually creates some buying - the difference being this time there doesn't appear to be any overhang depressing the reaction. Also, his previous updates have also happened when the graph looked pretty depressing and that probably put some people off. The current view looks a lot more promising and certainly portrays the story that a re-rating is underway.

For anyone new here.......
These were the thoughts of Simon Thomson a few weeks ago after the
positive trading update (uber I.C analyst and long-time Camkids
champion)

" Camkids' board has confirmed that trading is in line with
previous guidance. Matt Butlin, head of equity research at
brokerage Allenby Capital, currently predicts EPS of 25.8p for the
12 months to end December 2014. On that basis the shares are now
trading on a miserly two times earnings forecasts. The chronic
undervaluation is even more extreme once you consider that Camkids
had net cash of £30.3m, or 40p a share, at the start of this
year.

Furthermore, with cash flowing into the business post the year-end
as inventories turned into cash and distributors settled accounts,
net funds hit £37m, or 49p a share, by the end of February,
or almost as much as the company’s market capitalisation now!
So investors are in effect attributing hardly any value to the
business itself even though it is profitable and is supporting a
full-year dividend of 4.3p a share. It also means that with
Camkids’ shares being offered in the market at 51p, the
historic yield is 8.4 per cent."
