Sold some Natwest today to top up here.Hope that was sensible but this looks cheap in the dog days of summer.Management have tweaked their green agenda strategy for the better as a shareholder here, the BBs continue theoretically giving support to the sp and at these levels i can see another takeover approach in the offing. The strong dollar isn't great for commodities but i can see the dollar weakening as interest rate cuts start which should help poo.Refinery costs in Germany certainly put a dampener on the last results but the share price has to be good value at these levels imho.Time will tell.

BP. They just seem to be getting cheaper by the day. They are buying back 5 million + shares a day for cancellation. The new boss needs to announce something good in the results on Tuesday, 10% rise in Dividend would be nice! Or else this really could become a serious takeover target. Just my views.

Since march 2023, have you noticed the speeds of the dumps above 500? Its just pure distribution. They sell it down to x zone, let low volume retail take it back up, then be a rumour about a takeover or something for liquidity, and dumped hard again Its going sub 300s

Saudi Aramco are the current favourites for a potential takeover bid. Chevron were high on the list, however they went with “others”.
There are no reasonable grounds to block a takeover, the U.K. government can not argue on the basis of BP being required for energy security. Most of the minor O&G companies support this horrific sector in the U.K.

The Tory "National Security and Investment Act" allows the UK government to block any takeover for any reason it wishes. Welcome to "Conservative" government. BP will not be allowed to be taken over.
NON of the UK government present or future will allow fossil fuel to flourish. Hence takeover or relocation to USA is going to be welcome outcome

Or even takeover by shell.

I agree with Questor as I recon BP must be takeover target . Energy use is growing year on year. DYOR.

Someone must be seeing London listed companies as cheap to takeover. That’s a risk to the LSEG and the UK gov. There must be alarm bells ringing

Bght again . Let us see where it ends up in summer months. According to CNBC contributor energy use has gone up 3 times?? . Well it should be good for INRG and other energy stock. Don't forget BP. takeover target or may relist in USA as per grapevine roumers.

They remain a takeover target especially if the price drops. I’ll add on weakness

Watch the price crash to 450p by takeover of any sorts...
One of only 2 red on my monitor, ftse 100 at all time high BP need to be taken out sadly - firstly the board must step down - still woke still dinosaurs still ineffective Somebody on other bb suggested Shell takeover and then US listing - now that’d be interesting

Takeover by Abu Dhabi. How ironic as BP started life as a colonial vehicle in the Middle East lol
I think it’s more likely Scirocco mounts a bid….. Gov wouldn’t allow a foreign country to takeover in my view but never say never
Abu Dhabi Takeover target. HA HA HA HA
It was well known it was a takeover target, I would imagine others are looking as well. Chevron top bet for a buyout of BP so the rumours go.

RE Daler's post.. The Telegraph BP draws takeover interest from UAE oil giant HTTPS://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/bp-draws-takeover-interest-uae-203458043.html
Excellent news. BP should be very clear with the Government that loyalty is conditional. In other words, we've been shown none therefore they can expect none. Should be exploring a move to the USA or positioning for a takeover - pay debt down and look like you want to be in a beauty contest. There's no long term future on the LSE. Only a matter of time before ESG rules force BP out anyway.
