Premium Exploration extends PGM anomaly at Stillwater

Ms. Lisa Maxwell of Stillwater reports

PREMIUM EXPLORATION, INC. ANNOUNCES PLATINUM-PALLADIUM SOIL GEOCHEMISTRY ANOMALY AT THE CHROME MOUNTAIN PROJECT, STILLWATER INTRUSIVE COMPLEX, MONTANA

Premium Exploration Inc. has provided results of a 2,000-sample soil geochemistry survey on its Chrome Mountain property within the Stillwater mafic intrusive complex, Montana, United States. The results extend a very strong platinum group metal (PGM) soil anomaly associated with the A and B chromitite horizons across the Chrome Mountain property for over 4.4 kilometres. Over four kilometres of the strike extension of the zone remain to be explored to the northwest, where additional sampling is planned for the 2007 field season. A map shows the extent of the soil anomaly on Premium's property.

The soil sampling program was carried out by Premium's partner, Beartooth Platinum Corp. (see joint news in Stockwatch dated Oct. 10, 2006). A soil anomaly delineated on the contiguous Beartooth property for approximately six kilometres continues northwesterly, and increases in size and platinum group element content on Premium's Chrome Mountain property. Beartooth completed 9,000 soil samples on its property and continued sampling along the strike of the A and B chromitite horizons on Premium's claims. Sampling on Chrome Mountain covered half of the strike length of the property before weather forced the program to cease. Assays were completed by SGS Mineral Services in Toronto, Canada.

The soil anomaly, defined by platinum plus palladium greater than 20 parts per billion, is 4.4 kilometres southeast to northwest and up to 1.7 kilometres wide. Soil samples were taken on a grid with 100-metre line spacing and 25-metre sample spacing. The strongest portion of the anomaly, centred on Chrome Mountain, is 2,300 metres long and 1,000 metres in width. Premium is very encouraged by these results, which are indicative of near-surface platinum and palladium mineralization associated with the chromitite horizons. Rhodium was not analyzed for the soils, but previous sampling and drilling by Beartooth demonstrate that a significant amount of rhodium is present in the A and B chromitite layers (see Beartooth news in Stockwatch dated Dec. 12, 2006). Premium's joint venture partner, Beartooth Platinum, is designated to follow up on these results with 10,000 metres of core drilling during the 2007 field season. The program is designed to delineate the extent of the subsurface platinum and palladium mineralization.

Overview of the Stillwater complex and Chrome Mountain project

Premium Exploration's property is located in the Stillwater mafic intrusive complex 120 kilometres south of Billings, Mont. The property parallels the JM reef, currently being mined from two sites by the Stillwater Mining Company (SMC). SMC produced approximately 500,000 ounces of PGMs in 2006. The JM reef runs the entire 41-kilometre length of the Stillwater complex and models the Merensky reef in the Bushveld complex in South Africa; the A and B chromitites at Stillwater are thought to mimic the UG2 chromitites, also in the Bushveld complex. The UG2 chromitites account for approximately 64 per cent of the PGM production from Bushveld. Premium's project parallels the reef for about 8.5 kilometres.

Historically, the Stillwater complex produced chromitite with one of the old producers located near the northwest end of Premium's property. The mine operated in 1918 for the war effort and was reopened briefly in 1942 by Anaconda Minerals Co., again for the war effort and strategic metals requirements. The lower unit of the Stillwater complex hosts copper-nickel mineralization currently being explored on the southeast end of the Stillwater complex.

ok Ash I will buy in again soon, meanwhile any views on EPG in Oz, my shares have just turned up, and its the only OZ share I have at the moment, can't decide whether to hold or look at finally buying some Ozzie resource stocks, already long PLAA, anything looking interesting out there at an early days entry level in your humble opinion? quite difficult to follow it from the UK for obvious reasons?

Johnno,

I think Palladium next move if my chart read correct Wave I US$171 to US$389, is to US$524 per toz the valuation arbitrage Platinum to Palladium is far, far, far too wide.

This is one of the reasons I expect BTP to move up to around C$0.34 then C$0.40 in lead up to drilling results, and assuming successful programme and assay grades I am looking for C$0.61 then C$0.95 in 2007

all imho, nag, dyor etc

true Ash and I will buy back in, however I sold a lot of my stuff and bought PFM last week at 0.87, it hit 1.90 yesterday, more news next week with various stockhouse punters forecasting this to be a $10 stock within 18 months, also bought STP last month at 1.35 now 2.40, the junior sands picking up lots of interest at the moment and Koreas KNOC also sniffing about, looks like a good opportunity especially with appreciating oil prices in the coming year and the technology improving

Ash,

That's more optimistic on timing but I can see your reasoning. Last year the drilling was delayed for various reasons and they fell short of what they wanted to do. But there seems to be a much greater sense of purpose now - hiring two rigs - and it wouldn't surprise me if they took out an option on another property.

Ash,

re your summary of the Richmond Club presentation, it's here:

Takes time to download but worth it. Seems very similar to the one he gave at the 20/20 platinum day in London earlier this week which is not yet available.

Judging by last year, initial drilling results should come through in November.

Red Ninja,

From what I understand they are targetting a Summer to Autumn Drill Season from June into end October 2007 of drilling 20 to 30 drill holes starting at South Eastern part of Chromite B Reef then moving up to North Western part of strike after Archeological approvals in place later in the period.

The most exciting potential I think will come when they are drilling around the outcrop from which earlier grab samples gave PGE Grades of up to 112 g/t PGE.

I am hoping that if BTP drill at 200 metre centres along the 10 km strike and specifically the major Western Anomalies that we hit some pretty interesting grades and that 2007 sees the start of an Inferred Resource.

I don't think that the detailed Aeromag on RSA Property will start until end of year.

With Rhodium still strong and Palladium starting to move at last I think this Chromite B Reef looks like a UG2 Style high Rhodium Grade Reef, if we can see an Inferred Resource and see continuation of Rh Grades of 0.71 g/t over 1 metre and 1.19 g/t over 0.50 metre, or even wider intersections further to the West as seems likely, and a continuation of the typical type PGE Grades from Stillwater JM Reef of 18 to 22 g/t, I think we will be in reasonable shape.

What I want to see is BTP drill like fury this Summer and prove what I think we believe is that grade and intersection widths increase to the West/North West.

What we really need is a repeat 2000 to 2001 move on Palladium back towards US$1,100 toz, and then the only real primary PGM Exploration play in the USA Stillwater Complex will I assume start getting significant US Investor attention.

To believe BTP have a mineable deposit we really need to see Rock Values above US$100 per Mt supporting an underground mining operation via Stillwater and Boulder Mine Declines adits etc toll treated at SWC Complex.

That means I only take grades above say 1.00 g/t Pt, 4.00 g/t Pd and 0.10 g/t Rh seriously, or say composite grades above 5 g/t PGE,afterall we are so far seeing Palladium to Platinum Ratios of from 1.50 to 1 to 4.50 to 1, and key results seem to come out around 76%/77% Palladium, 16%/17% Platinum, 5.50% Rhodium 1.50% Gold.

Across the 9 successful assays listed here I reckoned we were averaging around 6.50 g/t ex Rhodium, or average 4.67 g/t ex Rhodium over 6 drill holes which I expect to be around 5.45% to 9.35% of composite PGE Grade, so it is looking hopeful, but a long way to go before we know whether we have another Stillwater/Boulder or not.

Realistically assuming a composite PGE Grade of 4.92 g/t PGE including Rhodium, with say a 3.36 g/t Pd 1.21 g/t Pt, 0.10 g/t Au 0.25 g/t Rh Grade across a true width averaging 1.20 metres we might well have a viable mining deposit which is roughly what I think 6 holes last year will average at (I come to roughly US$39.00 Pd, US$51.15 Pt, US$50.25 Rh, US$2.10 Au per Mt ie US$142.50 per Mt current commodity prices).

I come to Average PGE Gramme US$28.96 or US$900.75 per troy ounce basket price so pretty much anything above 3.50 grammes per tonne PGE is interesting noting no assays yet for Iridium, Ruthenium, Osmium, no inclusion of any base metal credits Copper, Nickel or more likely Chromite.

There also seems hope widths may improve I think JM Reef buckles and varies between 0.90 metres to 9 metres widths.

Early days but I think if BTP to be on people's radar screens this year will be the year that it gets there logically.

all imho, nag, dyor etc

Cheers

Ash:)

Ash,

Liked the bit about :-

Beartooth has planned a 2007 drill program with two drill rigs. One will continue along the trend of the successful 2006 drill program and the second rig will test along strike. Almost double the 2006 drilling is planned.

Beartooth plans 2007 drill program at Stillwater

2007-05-15 15:47 ET - News Release

Mr. Michael Johnson reports

BEARTOOTH PLATINUM CORPORATION (TSX-V: BTP) BEARTOOTH'S PRESIDENT AND CEO MICHAEL JOHNSON OUTLINES BEARTOOTH'S PLATINUM GROUP METALS (PGM)

Investors and interested parties were brought up to date by Michael Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Beartooth Platinum Corp., during his presentation to the Richmond Club on May 9, 2007, including an update on the platinum group metals (PGM) in the Stillwater Igneous complex of Montana. Beartooth has planned a 2007 drill program with two drill rigs. One will continue along the trend of the successful 2006 drill program and the second rig will test along strike. Almost double the 2006 drilling is planned. In 1998 and 1999, the company staked a number of claims in and around the Stillwater complex in south-central Montana that had become available. The company's landholdings in this area now total approximately 5,976 hectares (14,764 acres). The Stillwater complex is located in the Beartooth Mountains of south-central Montana, 140 kilometres (80 miles) southwest of Billings. This mafic-ultramafic layered intrusion hosts the world's highest-grade platinum group metal (PGM) deposit, the JM reef, which is currently in production at two mines owned by Stillwater Mining Company. The Stillwater complex occurs in mountainous terrain, with elevations rising to over 3,300 metres (10,000 feet).

Beartooth's portfolio of projects, including diagrams, as presented at the Richmond Club's May 9, 2007, resource meeting, is available on-line.
