Beartooth cuts three feet of 17 gpt PGM at Stillwater

2005-12-01 08:12 ET - News Release

Mr. Michael Johnson reports

BEARTOOTH PLATINUM CORPORATION ANNOUNCES POSITIVE RESULTS FROM 2005 FIELD SEASON AT STILLWATER COMPLEX

Beartooth Platinum Corp. (BTP) has released the results from its 2005 field program at the company's Stillwater property, located in southwestern Montana. The Stillwater property consists of 825 mining claims, totalling approximately 14,000 acres.

During Beartooth's first holistic evaluation of its Stillwater property, with claims that lie contiguous with Stillwater Mining Co.'s producing platinum and palladium mines, BTP started to produce very positive results.

Results of the 2005 data compilation program indicated that a zone called the A and B chromitite horizon had been seriously underexplored. One hole, drilled previously by other exploration groups in the B chromitite zone, intersected three feet grading 17 grams per tonne (0.55 ounce per ton) platinum plus palladium plus gold from the B chromitite zone. Previous arbitrary surface samples returned grades up to 112 grams per tonne (3.6 ounces per ton) platinum plus palladium plus gold.

Follow-up soil sampling and geologic mapping during the 2005 field season has extended the A and B chromitite horizon continuously for over five kilometres (15,800 feet) on Beartooth-controlled claims.

Preliminary geochemical studies indicate that the A and B chromitite zone is similar to the UG2 horizion of the Bushveld complex in South Africa. Currently four Bushveld companies: Implats, Amplats, Lonmin and Aquarius, are producing approximately 62 per cent of their ore from the UG2 horizon.

In addition, Mike Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Beartooth, said, "A preliminary review of the available data for the chromitite-associated mineralization indicates an average palladium to platinum ratio of 1:8, making these units platinum-rich in comparison to the better known J-M reef of the Stillwater complex."

In the Fishtail Creek target zone, geophysical surveys indicate that the area contains several profiles similar to those generated at the outcropping JM Reef area. However, the magnitude of these profiles is less than the profiles over outcropping JM Reef area. Consequently, the depth to the Stillwater complex is unknown. However, early snows in the Fishtail Creek target area terminated the drill program before Stillwater complex rocks were intercepted. Currently, the company is using oil and gas field technology to reinterpret the geophysics to determine the depth of the Stillwater complex. Beartooth will resume drilling at the beginning of the next field season.

As the 2005 summer field program winds down, plans for a significant drilling program on the property are being formulated for the 2006 field season. Initially it is anticipated that multiple drill rigs will be employed to develop a potential resource within the A and B chromitite horizon.

The company expects to release further results as they become available.

BEARTOOTH PLATINUM ANNOUNCES START-UP OF DRILLING AT STILLWATER PROPERTY, MONTANA

September 8, 2005

Beartooth Platinum Corporation (TSX Venture Exchange: BTP) announced today, that drilling commenced on their Stillwater Property located in south central Montana on August 27th, 2005. The first hole is located in the Fishtail Creek, at the eastern end of BTP's land package. The location is on strike with the JM reef, which is currently being mined by Stillwater Mining Company (SWC-N).

Drill sites were located using a combination of air and ground based geophysics, geochemistry and geology. Beartooth's President and CEO, Mr. Michael Johnson said, "We identified a number of geophysical 'peaks' that appear to be associated with both the JM reef and VEZ zones in the Fishtail Creek area. In addition, we found isolated geochemical anomalies, which also appear to be related to the geophysical targets tentatively identified as JM Reef."

Geologically, the Stillwater complex is a very linear, up-turned set of parallel beds stretching for over 28 kilometers. There is every reason to expect a continuation of this strike onto the Fishtail Creek area. The Fishtail Creek area is covered with glacial gravels and Paleozoic sediments. It is impossible to determine the actual depth to the targets from either the geophysical or geochemical data collected earlier in this field season and consequently we are planning on drilling to depths of at least 1,000 feet (300 meters) at each drill location.

Beartooth's property is located on United States Forest Service (USFS) land. The application process for drill permits takes approximately 30 days to complete and permits are now on hand. Beartooth will be drilling up to 10,000 feet in this current program and assay results are anticipated to be released in October.

Fieldwork, consisting of geochemical sampling and geologic mapping, continues on the Iron Mountain, Chrome Mountain and Blakley Creek target areas. It is anticipated that some drilling will be conducted on these target areas during this field season.

About Beartooth Platinum Corporation

Beartooth controls 809 unpatented lode mineral claims over the exposed 50 kilometre strike length of the Stillwater Complex, North America's largest known resource of PGE's where there are two operating mines of the Stillwater Mining Company (SMC) from the J-M Reef. Beartooth's mineral claims are contiguous with these significant resource properties.
