Working experience and occupation(s)   Spent 37 years with Coopers-Lybrand,
during the past 10 years:              legacy firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
                                       Retired from firm as Senior Partner in
                                       1999.  He was Vice Chairman of Coopers-
                                       Lybrand and Managing Director of its
                                       management consulting services firm from
                                       its inception in 1972.  Mr Thein is a
                                       fellow of the Institute of Chartered
                                       Accountants in England & Wales and a 
                                       member of The Institute of Certified     
                                       Public Accountants of Singapore.  He is a
                                       member of the governing council of The
                                       Singapore Institute of Directors and is
                                       active in promoting and advancing the
                                       practice of corporate governance in      
                                       Singapore.  He was awarded the Public
                                       Service Medal by the President of        
                                       Singapore in 1999.
