RNS No 1361r BRIERLEY INVESTMENTS LIMITED 8 July 1999 BIL Appoints Chief Executive The Board of Brierley Investments Limited today announced the appointment of Mr Greg Terry as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr Terry is currently Vice Chairman, Pacific Region, of Credit Suisse First Boston, based in Melbourne. He will take up the appointment on or before 1 November 1999. BIL Executive Chairman, Sir Selwyn Cushing said, "The Board is delighted to have attracted a candidate of Greg's calibre to lead the Company. "He has extensive business experience having worked in senior positions in investment banking, law and business in Australia, Hong Kong and the United States. Given this experience, his contact base and knowledge of the major markets in which BIL invests, he is the ideal person to lead the Company. Sir Selwyn said that Mr Terry's appointment together with initiatives relating to BIL's domicile and capital structure means the implementation of the Group's business plan is on schedule. Commenting on his appointment, Mr Terry said, "BIL is poised for a new era of growth. It has the staff and now the financial strength to pursue investment opportunities in the Asia Pacific region and elsewhere. "With the support of the Board and shareholders, I am confident BIL will regain its position as the leading investment company in the region, and I am excited by the opportunity to lead BIL in the next stage of its development." Before joining Credit Suisse First Boston in 1997, Mr Terry was a Director and Group General Counsel of Jardine Matheson Limited, based in Hong Kong, for ten years. He was also a director of a number of Jardine Group companies including Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited, Mandarin Oriental International Limited and The HongKong Land Property Co Ltd. Mr Terry is an Australian citizen, aged 54. He began his career in the Australian Diplomatic Service. He has a LLB from the University of Melbourne and a Masters degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Massachusetts, United States of America. END BOAALLIRDIITIAA
