Conversion of Subscription Shares

Following the exercise of Subscription Share Rights by 146 holders of Subscription Shares, the Board of BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc (the "Company") announces that it has issued, subject to listing, 516,197 new Ordinary Shares.

The Company has applied for these Ordinary Shares to be listed on the Official List and commencement of dealings in these Ordinary Shares on the London Stock Exchange is expected to take place at 8.00 a.m. on 17 May 2016.

Following this exercise of Subscription Share Rights, there are 103,003,113 Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding 7,325,825 Ordinary Shares held in treasury).

On 13 May 2016, Subscription Share Rights will lapse in respect of the 20,014,801 Subscription Shares which remain in issue.  As announced, the Subscription Shares were suspended from listing on 3 May 2016. In accordance with the Company's Articles of Association, following the lapse of the Subscription Share Rights, the remaining Subscription Shares will be re-classified into Deferred Shares and their listing will be cancelled at 8.00a.m. on 1 June 2016 (unless otherwise determined by the Company and announced by RNS).
