                   Announcement of Board Changes
 
Birse Group plc is pleased to announce the appointment today of Mr
Peter Watson as Chief Executive.
 
Mr Watson, aged 49, is a qualified chartered accountant who brings
to the role wide commercial experience in both industry and
management consultancy. A non-executive director of Birse since
1995, he has an in-depth knowledge of the business and has played
an increasingly important role in the development of the board's
strategy to focus resources on better quality, higher margin work.
 
At the same time, in line with the board's agreed succession plan,
Mr Peter Birse's role will change from that of executive to non-
executive chairman.
 
Commenting on the changes, Peter Birse said:
 
"Peter Watson has the drive and commercial expertise to ensure the
successful implementation of our strategy for delivering value to
shareholders and I am delighted to announce his appointment. His
change of role significantly strengthens an executive management
team already bolstered by the recent appointment to the board of
Mr John Elders, Managing Director of Birse Construction."
