Response to Press Speculation

Birmingham City plc ("Birmingham" or the "Company") 
 
The Company notes the recent  press speculation that Mr Carson  Yeung 
was making funds available to Birmingham City to acquire players. 
 
Birmingham City Football  Club (the Company's  subsidiary) wishes  to 
confirm that it has not received  any loan from Carson Yeung to  fund 
the acquisition of players, and has received confirmation today  that 
no such loan will be made prior  to the end of the transfer  window. 
The Company  has been  informed  by Grandtop  International  Holdings 
Limited ("Grandtop")  that there  are regulatory  restrictions  which 
arise from the granting of such  a loan and that these would  prevent 
Mr  Yeung  from  participating  in  the  approval  of  the   proposed 
acquisition of  Birmingham by  Grandtop's  shareholders, which  is  a 
condition of the offer, announced by Grandtop on 21 August 2009
