             BETA VIET NAM FUND LIMITED ("BVNF" or the "Company")             
                                                                              
                 Court Approval for reduction of capital and                  
                    return of US$3 cash per ordinary share

Beta Viet Nam Fund Limited is pleased to announce that the Royal Court of
Guernsey has today approved the reduction of capital in BVNF which allows the
Company to return US$3 in cash per ordinary share to shareholders on the
register at the close of business today.  

Shareholders should note that any ordinary shares bought or sold after 4.30
p.m. today will not carry the right to receive the US$3.

Proceeds will be remitted to shareholders during the course of the next week.
