RNS Number:8532P Base Group PLC 17 September 2003 Basegroup plc: AGM Statement Basegroup plc, ("Basegroup"or "the Group") a leading sports management and representation company, today made the following statement at the Group's Annual General Meeting. "Since the period ended February 2003, the Group has continued to incur substantial losses as a result of the continuing difficulties in the football market as evidenced by the much reduced activity in the August transfer window which was well below the Board's expectations. Given the arrangements whereby revenue earning opportunities are concentrated in two transfer "windows" in August and January, the Board does not envisage a return to month-by-month profitability in the remainder of this calendar year, and expects the Group to incur significant losses in this period. The Board has received an approach from a director of Base, Mr Leon Angel regarding the purchase of the football business from the Group by him. In order to progress negotiations, Mr Angel has resigned from the Board of Base with immediate effect. A further announcement will be made in due course."
