Notification of an interest in shares pursuant to Sections 67-79 of the
Companies Act, 1990.

As solicitors for the Bank of Nova Scotia ("the Bank"), we hereby  notify you
that the Bank has become interested (within the meaning of Sections 67 to 79
of the Companies Act, 1990) on its own behalf and as trustee for certain other
banks and financial institutions, in 119,666,795 stock units in the share
capital of the Company which stock is, so far as is known to us at the date of
this notification, registered in the name of Stoneworth Investment Limited.

This notification is made pursuant to the obligation of disclosure contained
in Sections 67 to 79 of the Companies Act, 1990.
