SKYSHIP,
Have you looked at ALP1? GRY of over 4% and 11 months until redemption.

AYLINGD - With the markets again so unpredictable for 2019 (though I expect a far better outcome than in 2018), I have positioned my portfolio in relatively secure, low expectations mode.

I have two core holdings, each representing c15% - a far higher figure than the usual 10% MAX figure operating since 2001.

Those two are:

# BBYB - At an offer price of 108.245p, the Gross price is 108.885p for a GRY of 4.51%

# RGL - a superbly managed regional propco trading at a c19% NAV discount on a yield of 8.6%

Now the prospect of further interest rate hikes (in the US) seems to be receding does this look an attractive risk/reward here at a GRY of say 4.25% at 108p ?

Can't find much else to buy so thinking of putting a bit more of the parked cash to play. Any thoughts.

maybe worth looking at adding to holdings on any dips...perhaps early next year as we get closer to maturity.

Jim - "...but there aren't too many decent short maturity income options around."

Exactly!

Just tried to buy 10,000. Cheapest offer was 108.95p.

Thanks - 4.26% isn't great for new buyers, but there aren't too many decent short maturity income options around.

A buy @ 108p inc. exps is therefore @ 108.6p.

At 108.6p the GRY = 4.26%.

SKYSHIP,
Surely most will hold until redemption? What do you make the GRY at 108p?

106-108p is a reasonable performance, equivalent to 111.375p bid Cum. Div.

Certainly won't be selling any at 106p as the GRY at that level is 5.85%; so IMO they remain a strong HOLD.

Sky - thanks for the reply. I too apply the 10% rule, although I've broken this in a few instances where I have very strong conviction and where investments are incredibly cheap (AAZ). Agree it's hard to find value at present - any other short term income plays/cash proxies?

jim - I used to run a 10% MAX. allocation any one stock; but have this year lifted that to 12.5% as now finding far fewer VALUE stocks. So I have about that figure in BBYB, as well as in high-yielding propcos HCFT & RGL.

Skyship,
It's a great place to park some cash for the short term. If you don't mind me asking how much of your portfolio is in this?

Must say, rather like Skinny's "Caution Ramp". Where is that to be found?
