27/7/2011 14:55 | I posted this on the AU.Charts thread on July 5th:- "UBS said yesterday that Autonomy is among 49 companies in Europe that are takeover targets." Investors Chronicle have come out with a "High Enough" rating today for Autonomy, and whilst respecting their views, it's probably also worth mentioning they rated Cranswick as a "safe, high yielding share" just a week ago, when the price was 728p. It was 643p this morning, after a profits warning yesterday. | alan@bj
27/7/2011 13:03 | Bought 5000 @ £17.10 T20 this morning. DJ MARKET TALK: Autonomy Results Very Good -Jefferies 1105 GMT [Dow Jones] Autonomy's (AU.LN) 2Q results are a very good set of numbers, with strong organic growth reflecting acceleration in the Cloud business and a particularly strong outturn in Original Equipment Manufacturer revenue, says Milan Radia at Jefferies International. Adds that profitability and margin are significantly ahead of estimates. Reiterates buy rating and 2200p target. Shares +5% at 1738p. DJ MARKET TALK: Autonomy Shows Positive Cloud Momentum -Goldman 1114 GMT [Dow Jones] Autonomy (AU.LN) 2Q revenues are in line with expectations, but the company is showing "positive cloud momentum," Goldman Sachs says. "Following the recent pullback in the shares, we expect 2Q results to have a positive share price impact, given the encouraging underlying metrics - particularly related to the cloud business, where we see scope for significant acceleration," GS says. Goldman Sachs' estimates and price target are under review pending the analyst conference call. Its recommendation is buy. The stock trades +5.5% at 1738p, making it top FTSE 100 riser. DJ MARKET TALK: Autonomy Leads FTSE 100 On Estimate Beating 2Q 1104 GMT [Dow Jones] Autonomy (AU.LN) +5% at 1738p, leading the FTSE 100 index after 2Q results beat market expectations, according to traders. The group says 2Q profits are up 8.1% and it expects an increase in profitability in the 4Q. Panmure Gordon's analyst George O'Connor says the results are better than what he was looking for and describes the outlook statement as encouraging. Also notes that areas in which the bears focus on such as day sales outstanding [DSO] - which measures the average number of days that it takes to collect revenues - deferred revenue and cash generation, are all very positive. "The shares should do well in the wake of this; expect target price increases," adds O'Connor. Panmure currently rates Autonomy at buy with a 2045p target. | wapper
27/7/2011 12:39 | quite, alan. | adejuk
27/7/2011 12:28 | Usual trend with AU. is for the share price to rise BEFORE the results, then tank on the day. This makes a pleasant change. How long until the bears find fault? | alan@bj
27/7/2011 12:21 | was wanting Autonomy reactionBEAnd we're happy to obligeBEWith the caveat that it's always the bulls who are first to publishBEHere's Goldman.BEAutonomy reported in-line 2Q results, with total revenues of $256 mn (10% organic ex-fx yoy), compared with our and Bloomberg consensus forecasts of $259 mn and $256 mn respectively. The EBITA ex-SBC margin came in higher, at 41.8%, vs. our 39.8% forecast due to better gross margins. Adjusted EPS was therefore marginally higher at $0.30 compared with our and consensus forecasts of $0.29, also helped by a slightly lower tax rate.BEOperating metrics were generally strong. (1) IDOL Product revenues grew 10% yoy, slightly below our 12% estimate and slower versus 1Q (up 17% yoy). (2) IDOL Cloud showed sharp upward momentum, 17% yoy org. ex-fx vs. our 12% estimate. (3) Commit (ex-IRM digital) came in at $437 mn (26% yoy, 12% qoq) and improved over $390 mn in 1Q11, driven by an acceleration in backlog momentum (ex-IRM digital; +24% qoq in 2Q11 vs. 11% in 1Q2011). (4) Large deals (> $1 mn) were slightly lower, with 23 deals signed in 2Q2011 vs. 27/25 signed in 1Q11/2Q10. (5) OEM revenues of $47.2 mn, or +26% yoy, maintained the strong growth seen in recent quarters. (6) Cash conversion of 80% for 2Q was slightly lower consensus. (7) 2Q deferred revenues (ex-IRM digital) were down nominally sequentially at c.$173 mn and followed usual seasonality. (8) Core DSOs came in at 93 days vs. 102/82 days in 1Q11/2Q10, improving sequentially. (9) R&D capitalization of $11 mn (4.4% of sales) was in line with recent trends.BEFollowing the recent pullback in the shares, we expect 2Q results to have a positive share price impact, given the encouraging underlying metrics particularly related to the cloud business, where we see scope for significant acceleration. Product is likely to remain volatile but directionally trend upwards. Together with better synergies at acquired assets, the structural growth potential is underestimated by consensus, in our view. We remain above consensus and reiterate our Buy.BEAnd here's UBSBEQ2 sales of $256.3m were in-line. A $9.6m contribution from the IRM assets was at the top of the $7-9m guidance range. Core IDOL growth was 15% (Q1: 19%) with a continued mix-shift to the cloud seen: Product sales grew 10% y/y organic vs Cloud at 17% and AU ended Q2 with $465m of "Commit", up $45m or 12% q/q ex-IRM. OEM sales growth of 26% to $47m was strong, despite tough comps.BEIn the "core", margins were 43.5% whilst IRM made a loss of 30% ($2.8m). Gross margins of 87.5% ex-IRM (70%) were pleasing, and a stand-alone EPS of 34c compares to cons. at 31c before the deal closed. Cost-cutting at the acq'n is running ahead of plan and "profitability in Q4 should show upside vs current expectations and continuing improvement in prospects for 2012": Bloomberg cons. is presently at 37c (UBSe: 41c pre-ESO charges) in Q4 11 and 154c in 2012.BEDSOs fell to 100 from 102 incl. IRM but were 93 excl. the acq'n. Deferred Income rose $17m q/q but would have shown its normal small ($3m) q/q decline ex-IRM. Cash conversion was 84% of adj. EBITDA ($120m).BEAurasma take-up has been strong with over 1m downloads in its pre-revenue period and most R&D costs sunk to-date. This could drive a future re-rating, with the shares at a 15x 2012E EV/NOPAT multiple today, given net cash of $670m at q/e. | brain smiley
