By Giles Gwinnett May 12 2015, 12:01pm Shares in Aurasian rose 130.16% to 0.725p.Shares in Aurasian rose 130.16% to 0.725p.

Aurasian Minerals (LON:AUM) moved a step closer to unlocking the mineral wealth of Laos in Southeast Asia as it unveiled a new joint venture, sending shares in the company rocketing.

The tie-up is with Lao investment company Sahamit Phattana and the new group will undertake exploration in the country.

Bruce Kay, Aurasian's chairman, told investors: "We are delighted to be forming this partnership with Sahamit, a highly respected and capable group with excellent in-country contacts.

"Through the Aurasian team's deep knowledge of the area based over 20 years' experience in the country we believe that we are now in a very good position to take advantage of the highly prospective mineral potential of Laos."
Laos is a landlocked country with a population of around 7mln. Its neighbours are China Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

Aurasian will hold a 70% stake in the new entity and Sahamit 30%.
Ten percent of the Sahamit stake will be financed by Aurasian through a loan to be made to Sahamit, which will be repayable out of its share of any dividends paid by the joint venture company.

Sahamit is involved in activities, which span agriculture, aquaculture, and construction and its president is Khuanchai Siphakanlaya - also president of Lao Consulting Group, a well-established and respected infrastructure contractor.
Shares in Aurasian rose 130.16% to 0.725p.

Bruce Kay is a Newmont Veteran and with Newmont being the largest shareholder, the RNS inidcates they will carry on working together -

Both these guys have found or have responsibility for finding multi million pound ounces of gold -

If AUM gets those licences as indicated it may have investor interest seeing as the team sought those licences for the areas indicated.

Maybe Tony should talk to Andiamo- that have a potentially exciting situation in Eritrea where Ortac have a stake.

Surely Andiamo will be looking for a listing if drill results continue to be as
good as they have been so far, and assuming that the Gold price has to break out
at some point and do exactly what it should do after the false interruption
from $250oz to $1900oz.

Once that happens- there will be no lack of investor appetite remaining from
what some suggest is the worst sentiment in 45 years towards the Gold stock sector.

I would be a buyer of Andiamo (all things being equal)whilst at the moment the only easy way in -is to buy OTC.

IMHO

There is a little bit on Proactive here -

[...]

When it announced in March it had been granted access to gold mining major Newmont's exploration database covering Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia, it said it was in discussion with an experienced exploration team to enable it to take advantage of this opportunity, and it turns out that not only is the exploration team experienced, it also has inside knowledge of the Newmont database.

The team comprises three key technical and corporate personnel who were involved in the successful exploration programmes of Normandy Mining, which Newmont acquired in 2002.

Bruce Kay (former head of Global Exploration for Normandy and Newmont), Jon Loraine (former managing director, International for Normandy and executive general manager Exploration and Development for MIM Holdings) and Paddy Waters (former senior geologist at BP Minerals, Australian Consolidated Minerals, Normandy Mining and Anglo American) have all been involved in successful exploration programmes worldwide.

The expectation is that all three will be offered positions on the Triple Plate Junction (TPJ) board once the company has completed an initial programme of work generated by analysis of the technical data.

The plan is for an option pool of just under 70mln shares, representing one-fifth of TPJ's current share capital, to be made available to the trio should they join the board, with the options being exercisable at 0.625p.

The group has called for a general meeting to ratify a proposed sub-division of the shares, which currently have a nominal value of 1p each, into one ordinary share of 0.1p and nine deferred shares of 0.9p; stock exchange rules prevent a company from issuing shares below their nominal value, so this sub-division would be required for the issue of shares to Kay, Loraine and Waters should they choose to exercise their options.

At the meeting, shareholders will also get to vote on the new share option scheme plus various changes to the company's articles of association arising from the proposed sub-division.

The company also intends to change its name to Aurasian Minerals, and its ticker symbol to AUM.
Shares in Triple Plate Junction rose 6.7% to 0.4p as investors welcomed another step in the company's reinvigoration.
