LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE ADMITS ADDITIONAL SHARES
ISSUED BY ARCO DURING 2-FOR-1 STOCK SPLIT IN 1997
LONDON, England - Additional shares issued to ARCO (NYSE: ARC) stockholders
pursuant to a 2-for-1 stock split in 1997 were admitted today to the Official
List of the London Stock Exchange.
As of today, ARCO had a total of 326,495,685 common shares issued and admitted
to the Official List.
The 2-for-1 split by means of a 100% stock dividend and a 4% increase in the
company's quarterly cash dividend was approved by ARCO's Board of Directors on
24 March, 1997, effective 13 June, 1997.
The decision gave ARCO stockholdes one additional share for every share
previously held. It also increased ARCO's quarterly dividend paid on commmon
shares to US$1.425 per share (pre-split basis) or 0.7125 per share
(post-split), up from the pre-split level of $1.375 per share.
