RNS No 7099c ATLANTIC RICHFIELD COMPANY 21st July 1997 ARCO WINS INVITATION TO NEGOTIATE PRODUCTION SHARING CONTRACT OFFSHORE TRINIDAD LOS ANGELES, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- A consortium headed by ARCO (NYSE: ARC) has been invited by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries of Trinidad to negotiate a production sharing contract for Block 27 offshore Trinidad. Block 27 was one of four deep water blocks off the eastern coast of Trinidad awarded by the Ministry last week following a bidding round that closed April 2. The block is located about 65 miles offshore in 650 to 1,300 meters of water covering approximately 220,000 acres. Block 27 was awarded to ARCO International Oil and Gas Company, the international oil and gas exploration and production division of Los Angeles-based ARCO; Petrobras Internacional S.A. - Braspetro, an affiliate of the Brazilian national oil company Petrobras; and Union Texas Trinidad Limited, an affiliate of Union Texas Petroleum Holdings (NYSE: UTH). ARCO holds a 45 percent working interest in the block, followed by Petrobras with 40% and Union Texas with 15 percent.
