ARCO DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY
DIVIDEND ON THREE CLASSES OF STOCK

LOS ANGELES -- ARCO's Board of Directors (NYSE:ARC) today declared regular
quarterly dividends on three classes of the company's stock.

A dividend of 71.25 cents a share was declared on Common Stock payable on June
15 to stockholders of record at the close of business on May 15.

A dividend of 75 cents a share was declared on #3.00 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable June 19 to stockholders of record at the close of
business on May 15.

A dividend of 70 cents a share was declared on #2.80 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable June 19 to stockholders of record at the close of
business on May 15.
