Hmm. out with a profit but certain investors are being stuffed here - esp given the cash levels in the company - worth hanging in as a private owner..

The buyer today is increasing their holdings though right?

Someone is still accumulating stock. Hence the rebound I suspect.

I still think these could double in quick time.

BB, i'm no accountant, but i'm told that it's an art not a science...

"During 2008 the Group reclassified the available for sale investments from
current assets to non-current assets in accordance with management estimation
that the Group will not sell the shares in the near future due to the low share
price."

It is a matter of semantics but clearly, if they were not for sale then they would be classified as such.

Why are they classified as sellable assets and other holdings not?

BB, yes, i'd read them. It doesn't mean that they are up for sale. It's just a classification. And that's my reading of all the refs in the results notes.

Although of course, they are available for sale if the management/board so choose. But that's not what the results specifically say.

See for example.

NOTE 14 - AVAILABLE FOR SALE INVESTMENTS

There are other references to ALOG that need to be read carefully. Just search AsianLogic within the results file from PTEC.

Yeah pal - we know you're in GVC - about 180p wasn't it?

Your 'friend' said so. Remember?

I've taken a look at this. Don't fancy it.

BritishBear, you posted somewhere (?) that playtech wanted to get out of alog (I think). What makes you think so?

BB, do you think that first trade was the distressed seller finishing, as a strange number of shares. Noticed in the report on gaming that the company thought there was a seller.

BritishBear,

Cheers for the info pal. I'll keep this as a one to watch, looks interesting. Spreads a bit nasty, even if you can trade inside to bid and offer price, which is probably why this doesn't seem more action.

For my sins, I also have a slice of LNG and GVC, it's a small world! ;-)

All the best pal.

only - the recent RNS is an interesting one.

Please read this document and look at the ALOG section.

This is why I have invested. The sharp fall today suggests a large seller remains who will sell into buying pressure until cleared out.

Shhhhh though. Don't tell too many people yet.

Hi BB - Just had a quick look. The RNS of 24 Nov 2008 contained too much negative information to warrant immediate investment: . That said, I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Any idea when the prelims are out this year? They were out 11 April last year. Could be good, will look out for them.

Another thing I fail to understand. In their financials, they had approx 7 million pre-tax profit last year, but nothing post-tax - any idea why? Could that just be a technical platform issue (my data is from Hargreaves Lansdown).

My impression is the shares are tight and only a little buying would make it fly. See today - small buy sends the bid up.

LD - the share buyback scheme is also worth looking at - they are buying back a lot of shares and more importantly they have a "distressed seller" which I am trying to take advantage of (in theory).

I know you are good at doing your own researh so anything you find out would be most welcome but I think it is an undiscovered gem.

The PKR link is one I particularly like at the moment. An Asian launch would be great.

It is hard to see if getting cheaper (with buybacks) - famous last words I know but I am confident.

PE 7 is still low historically are relative to some others.

LD,

Your point is well made - my reason for investing is based on future growth in Asia.

The PE only half the story. If they crack China (and they are in prime position) then the share price growth could be very large indeed.

All about future expectations.

I have GVC and LNG shares as well :-) - this is a nice addition to a portfolio IMO and will be paying a dividend that could also give a very nice return this year alone.

All the numbers are here:
