Posted at 10/1/2010 22:47 by lqs News blogAsia Resources * BY: Andrew Hore | * POSTED: 24/12/2009 | * COMMENTS: Add yours Five directors have resigned from the board of Asia Resources leaving chief executive Peng Hoong Leong as the only director. Tinderhouse investor relation solutions This follows the resignation of nominated adviser ZAI Corporate Finance on 16 December. The shares were suspended at 1.75p each, which values Asia Resources at £2.62m. The latest departures make it look less likely that the gold trader and jewellery manufacturer will find a new nominated adviser before the month is up. Dennis Edmonds (chairman), Michael Stainer (finance director), Lip Lin Tan, Dato Haji Sulaiman bin Abu Bakar and Ong Chong Hua have all stepped down from the board. Revenues rose by one-fifth to MYR749.5m in the first half of 2009, helped by the rise in the gold price. However, gross margins have fallen and pre-tax profit declined from MYR3.16m to MYR2.69m. Net debt was MYR40m at the end of June 2009. When Lin Shoon Jewellers reversed into Asia Resources at the start of 2008 it failed to disclose that it was in dispute with E-Qirad Sdn Bhd. The sale of the company's money lending operation has been unwound because the proposed buyer never paid. Religare Hichens Harrison is still broker. |
Posted at 15/12/2009 14:56 by lqs Am I converting properly. I calculate cash per share is 4p with PE ratio of 4. But the shares are just 2p to purchase. |
Posted at 26/11/2009 09:08 by andrbea 18%price collapsed last week on the back of a 1 mln sell (just 1 seller?) maybe distressed, forced? if so, no reflection on the company Company keeping quiet about the fall, which is wierd (or ... reassuring). ;-) nia dyor |
Posted at 25/11/2009 15:55 by 21simthy You can sell 250k at the 2.75p mid price.Very strange, a couple of buys no movement, no stock online but bidding high for it but marking the price down ? |
Posted at 25/11/2009 15:46 by 21simthy Could be right !Dropping the price but not allowing you to buy even 25k online so it looks like manipulation using any sale to drop the price so my advice is to hold tight if you have bought higher. |
Posted at 25/11/2009 14:00 by andrbea no big sells, so that 1mln seller has finished hopefullyanyroad, should ASR not comment on the recent fall? eg tell us it's a forced seller and that they know of no other reason, eg company's operations still on track, no special developments to report? Why don't the LSE police pressure the company for an RNS comment on a big price fall (as quickly as they do for a sharp price rise)? nia dyor |
Posted at 23/11/2009 12:58 by andrbea reckon it's a good buyasr do gold bullion & jewellery press wires today speak bullishly about gold: Gold price is booming. As markets opened across the globe on Monday, gold prices hit a new historic record of $ 1,166.45 an ounce in Europe, boosted by weakening dollar. Bullish over the big weekly opening for gold, bullion analysts are now predicting that gold will touch $1,200 per ounce this week. |
Posted at 23/11/2009 12:42 by andrbea Share price had been moving positively (up 1p since August)"The Company is currently investigating projects that will assist in sourcing more raw product and continues to seek investment opportunities in the gold and related industries" as a mission statement, sounds good to me against a rising POG. reckon the one distressed seller has to get out at any cost no reflection on the company IMO forced sellers are the reason why many a good company has dropped sharply in recent years: eg fts got hit by forced sellers last year, ... but is today's biggest riser. nia dyor |
Posted at 23/11/2009 10:10 by mike_f Chairman's statement I am pleased to announce the interim results of Asia Resources Plc ("Asia Resources"), for the six months ended 30 June 2009. The unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2009 show a profit before taxation of MYR 2,693,000 and a profit after taxation of MYR 1,546,000 (2008 : MYR 2,028,000). The basic and diluted earnings per share were 1.03sen (2008 : 1.35sen). The balance sheet shows net assets of MYR 58,245,000 (2008 : MYR 55,267,000). The Group's subsidiary, LS Gold Bullion Sdn. Bhd. ("LSJ" formerly known as Lin Shoon Jewellers Sdn Bhd) has seen sales growth of 20%, partly as a result of the rise in gold prices but predominately from higher physical gold volumes. Gross profit has been maintained in the face of depressed processing margin, which we believe have bottomed out. The board has identified opportunities for enhancing margin with the creation of a bespoke, branded product. Group cash generated from operations has increased from MYR 1,047,000 in 2008 to MYR 4,501,000 in 2009 and cash from operating activities is now positive at MYR 2,073,000 (2008 negative MYR 2,010,000). In the six months ended 30.06.2009 LSJ has invested just under MYR 6 million in new plant and machinery for the manufacture of higher margin gold products to support the Group strategy of margin enhancement. The Company is currently investigating projects that will assist in sourcing more raw product and continues to seek investment opportunities in the gold and related industries. |
