                      ARLA FOODS UK PLC ("ARLA FOODS UK")
                CHANGE OF NAME AND APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTORS


On 22 October 2003, Express Dairies plc changed its name to Arla Foods UK plc
and from today its shares are trading under the symbol "ARU".

Following completion of the merger, the following directors have now joined the
board of Arla Foods UK:

Jens Bigum                    Deputy Chairman, Non-Executive Director
Mikael Christiansen           Executive Director
Simon Stevens                 Executive Director
Ake Modig                     Non-Executive Director
Kim Nielsen                   Non-Executive Director


Simon Stevens has joined the board of Arla Foods UK as Sales Director. Simon has
been Sales Director at Arla Foods plc since September 2002 having previously
worked for Unilever for 14 years in a variety of sales and marketing roles.
Simon has joined the board of Arla Foods UK in place of Hanne Sondergaard. There
are no further disclosures required in respect of Simon Stevens under Listing
Rule 16.4 of the UK Listing Authority.
