15/3/2005 22:21 | Hypocrite you give us all hope, keep up the fight, I for one am right behind you. I am glad you highlighted the Waterford results. What a mess that company is in. One of O'Reilly's problems is that he does not fire the senior management who are resposible for these pathetic results. He is surrounded by yes men and cronies who have been with him for years. Independent Newspapers (INWS)results are out in the morning and they should be good that is if he can believe recent utterances from that company. However, market sentiment is against anything O'Reilly is involved with because he is so highly leveraged and his personality dominates the companies he is involved in. I note your post about the Irish Examiner article. I think it is fair comment about the debacle at Arcon. | figis
15/3/2005 17:52 | Nice posts - so there is hope for us yet. They may just have to increase their offer. | britishbear

15/3/2005 11:25 | No plans to cut jobs at Wedgwood Tuesday, 15th March 2005 07.31am There are no immediate plans for jobs cuts at Waterford Wedgwood in the wake of yesterday's profit warning, the firm has said. Group chief executive Redmond O'Donoghue told the Irish Examiner there are no proposals to take the company private, despite the massive fall in the value of the company on the stock exchange. "One can never say about the future funding of the company and you can't rule anything in or out but there's nothing on my desk," he said. O'Donoghue stressed that WW retains its market leadership status and has increased its market share in some sectors, albeit in a declining market for luxury goods. Waterford Wedgwood's share price fell by nearly 27pc yesterday after the company issued a profit warning when the company announced that total sales for the year to March 31, 2005 are expected to be around 6pc down on 2004 on a like-for-like basis. | hypocrite

Boliden, the Swedish mining conglomerate that owns Tara Mines, has sold a 6.7% stake in Canada-based LUNDIN MINING, the firm that said less than two weeks ago, that it is buying ARCON RESOURCES for E94 million in cash and stock. BOLIDEN which is the third largest zinc miner in the world, said it had sold the Lundin stake to an "accredited investor". It will realise a gain of E2.2 million on the share sale. Arcon majority shareholder Tony O'Reilly will get about E40 million in cash and E40 million in Lundin stock as a result of the recent acquisition. Lundin stock price has risen by over 25% so far this year;and rose by some 1.5% on news that Boliden had sold it's stake. Last week Outokumpu which had sold the Tara operation to Boliden, offloaded a 10.4% stake in Boliden, raising E115 million in the process. 13/3/2005 07:57 | I wrote to all the media......but I was'nt expecting the Times and the Indo would be interested.......fig think the Sunday Tribune last week would print what it did about the previous Sunday's interview with the CEO...but it did....I hope it did'nt earn the writer a place on the marriages column!!! Censorship? Cant comment....except to say it would have been a brave man!!!! Cheltenham week starts tomorrow, which will be the last day in the office for anyone who is anyone in Ireland....the disease also infects half of my colleagues in the City of London........... This week would be a great week to make an announcement that you might want to make unopposed.....or to dampen it's opposition.... Hypocrite any feedback on your protestations. I would be interested to know and back you up anyway I can. Kingspan's results out today. The results are excellent and well worth reading. This is a well managed company. The shares have enjoyed a good run and my opinion for what it is worth there is more upside to come. The price is in euros. | figis
