RNS Number:1073M Alpha Airports Group PLC 15 November 2006 ALPHA AIRPORTS GROUP PLC ("Alpha Airports" or Alpha") AWARD OF DUTY FREE SHOPPING CONTRACT AT NEW DELHI AIRPORT Alpha Airports is pleased to announce that it has been awarded, in joint venture with Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited ("Pantaloon"), the duty free shopping contract for Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The contract, awarded by Delhi International Airport Ltd ("DIAL"), the consortium undertaking the modernisation and restructuring of the existing New Delhi airport, will run for three years and three months. The contract will cover duty free shops from a number of locations in both the Departures and Arrivals halls. The shops will focus on selling liquor and tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics, fashion wear and leisure goods, and confectionary and packaged goods. The contract award comes at a time of substantial growth in the Asian market. Asia now accounts for over a third of global duty free sales, with India one of the fastest growing markets in the region. The country's economic development and the rapid growth in international air traffic have created major opportunities in duty free sales in the country. Alpha, which has extensive experience in duty free retailing in Asia with outlets in Cochin, Colombo, Kathmandu and Male, and Pantaloon are also currently in discussions about the travel retailing and food and beverage opportunities at Bangalore and Hyderabad airports. Separately, Mumbai airport is expected to issue its requests for proposals shortly and the Government is also considering plans for the eventual privatisation of Chennai (Madras) and Kolkota (Calcutta) airports. Commenting on the contract award, Peter Williams, Chief Executive of Alpha, said: "We are delighted to have secured this contract, the first in our new joint venture with Pantaloon. A key part of Alpha's strategy is to capture a significant share of the rapidly-growing Asian market where we already have a major presence and in which India is one of the fastest growing markets. In India, international traffic is growing at over 15% per annum and domestic traffic grew 28% last year. That presents an exciting opportunity." 15 November 2006 Enquiries Alpha Airports Group Plc 020 8580 3200 Peter Williams, Chairman & Chief Executive www.alpha-group.com Mark Adams, Finance Director College Hill 020 7457 2020 Mark Garraway Kate Pope Notes to Editors: Alpha Airports Alpha Airports Group Plc is one of the world's leading aviation support services companies, providing retailing and catering services for airlines and airports.
