29/10/2001 15:21 | Up 14% today on a lot of buys - Can't think what could cause that unless it's been tipped somewhere, or some people know about stakebuilding or similar. Anyone know if Air France is making a move? | shy tott
20/10/2001 20:12 | Late buy - 500,000 at 16.08 pm. Something going on here? Possible prelude to t/over (Air France??) Appears to be a well run company under KA but has suffered along with the rest of the airlines following 11 Sept. | honiton
02/8/2001 16:11 | Hello GoldDog Interesting news, price fell but often does on an announcement I feel. Good move for profits if they can do the job efficiently. Felt something was brewing but hadn't got a clue what. | lightning
02/8/2001 10:01 | Alpha Airports Group PLC said it has acquired a 51 pct stake in the Jordan Flight Catering Company in Amman, Jordan, for 8.8 mln stg cash after the tender by the Jordanian government. This is the first flight kitchen privatisation to take place in the Middle East. Alpha said 29 pct of Jordan Flight Catering will be held by Alpha's local Jordanian catering partners, Eastern Investment and Development Company Ltd, and 20 pct will remain with The Royal Jordanian Airline PLC, the kitchen's biggest customer. Other customers include Air France, Alitalia, British Mediterranean Airways, KLM and Lufthansa. Sales in the 12 months to December 2000 were 9.3 mln stg, the operating profits were 3.6 mln, with net assets acquired of 0.6 mln. The joint venture will have exclusive rights to provide flight catering services at Amman and all other Jordanian airports for seven years, and Alpha will be the exclusive caterer to the Royal Jordanian Airline for 10 years. | -golddog-
30/7/2001 16:23 | royaloak They can shake the tree as much as they like. I'm tied to a branch until it fruits and can do a bit of scrumping. But seriously, I bought on the IPO, lord that seems a while back, so I need to recover some ground. I don't feel inclined in this stock to crystallise a loss so I will hold on. | lightning
26/7/2001 15:07 | Lightning A bit of tree shaking today, but coming back strongly and a good trading statement just issued! | royaloak
25/7/2001 21:44 | Would you like some company Lightning - here i am. I should buy some of these should'nt I. | -golddog-
25/7/2001 19:26 | IS THERE ANYBODY THERE? There must be some other AAP holders around. Where are you posting? Any explanation for some of the trades around recently? Price has clicked up a 10% in July, MMs must have a reason to buck the trend with this rather unfashionable share. | lightning
19/7/2001 15:57 | I'm impressed. 250,000 buy at close of play. | lightning
25/5/2001 15:59 | ChrisG I'd call that a notifiable interest eh! I suppose that will limit the upside if there is to be a takeover. It would have been nice to have the price back to its floatation level but I suppose it is not to be. | lightning
24/5/2001 21:32 | Think there was a short article in Investors Weekly today quoting Kevin Abbott (CEO Alpha Airports) saying he didn't necessarily think Alpha would retain its independence. Air France has said it wants to increase its activities in this area, and already owns 27% of Alpha, as stated in the top post of this thread. Looks like Schroders does know what its doing. | chrisg
24/5/2001 15:48 | It's 29,294,400 shares (17.174%) that Schroders hold now. See todays SAR. What's going on? | lightning
14/5/2001 13:53 | Schroders last week bought 7.4 million shares, being 4.3% of the company. They now hold nearly 26 million shares, being about 15%. Scroders don't sound to me like an outfit who doesn't know what it's doing. | shy tott
14/5/2001 09:09 | Air France owns 27% of AAP, and it has been making noises about expanding its flight catering interests. With a p/e of only 8, safe yield of over 5%, a peg of less than 0.5, Alpha is well in the value share range. Recent contract wins. On figures like that, combined with its expanding market, I could see this getting gobbled up. If not, the dividend will supply comfort, and there's still a likelyhood of captal gain as value stocks move back into fashion. | shy tott |
